The Law Enforcement Training Institute at the University of Missouri specializes in providing Missouri POST certified basic, in-service, advanced and continuing education and training programs and services to law enforcement recruits, veteran officers, public safety agencies and other private and public organizations throughout Missouri and nationally.

This position will perform a variety of responsible, complex secretarial and clerical duties, often working independently. This position will handle some budget/fiscal management responsibilities. For more information about LETI programs, visit


Assist academy coordinator with scheduling, registrations, preparing handout materials for presentations, data entry of all registrant information in database, preparing certificates, ordering necessary materials for students and preparing final reports for audit by the Department of Public Safety.

Assist Business Support Specialist I with both seminar and National Animal Cruelty Investigations by taking registrations, data entry of registration information for these programs occasionally, preparing handout materials for programs and limited fiscal duties.

Answer telephone, route calls and answer routine questions. Greet visitors and prospective registrants, assisting them with routine questions. Processing publication and clothing orders.

Other duties as assigned.

Conduct all activities in accordance with the Civil Rights Acts, Title IX, Rehabilitation, Americans with Disabilities Act and local, state and region affirmative action plans.

As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected in order to support the mission and purpose of MU Extension.


This position primarily reports to the Law Enforcement Training Institute’s Academy Coordinator. Some direction and leadership may be supplied by the Law Enforcement Training Institute’s Fiscal Officer.

Salary Range: $11.54 - $12.50 hourly

Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be required is necessary. Three years progressively responsible office experience is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Must be highly organized and detail oriented.

Professional and positive demeanor and communication style is necessary.

Moderate-level computer skills in Microsoft Office products (word, excel, and access).

Must enjoy working with data, and deadlines.
