Job Summary:
The Scrum Master manages the Agile business delivery process, specifically scrum. Without directly managing people, the Scrum Master ensures that the team is working within scrum guidelines and methodologies and controls the scrum process. They will be a coach for the development of effort and teamwork to facilitate the best possible work. As process owner of the team, they will create a balance with the effort put forward and the project's key stakeholder. This position requires highly advanced communications skills that allow for successful projects, keeping a focus on the goals. They must be a real team player who desires to see others succeed, as much as their own; serves as the scrum mentor to those who need direction. They will help guide the use of the Scrum principles in this non-software development environment to ensure it is supporting the business process.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Proactively helps manage and report on running backlog producing insightful metrics to speed up data entry, information review, and team delivery to ensure success.

Must be able to work with highly iterative and interactive business delivery cycles and collaborating with team members such as: product owners, data managers, data specialists, developers, architects, and many involved stakeholders.

Encourages the team to work vigorously and to their full potential, but also protects them by preventing over-commitment to what is truly achievable within any given time-boxed sprint cycle.

Ability to work within the organization to remove impediments and eliminate roadblocks that interrupt the development process (requires quick response to help the team overcome any debilitating obstacle).

Responsible for scheduling and coordinating all planning sessions, daily scrums, demo sessions, retrospective follow-ups and release deliveries (stays on top of the product backlog and the grooming process).

Does not require development skills but must be able to stay abreast of current and emerging geospatial technologies and data processes that are used by the business team.

Works with Azure Dev/Ops to monitor and communicate the process flow during active sprints - must keep all documentation current, due to the highly volatile environment and to ensure success.

Acts as the overall scrum expert and manager of the scrum process. Serves as mentor to the scrum process and is a resource for all team members.

Works with a defined group of team members with various skill levels and does not manage the team members but is required to manage the process as the process owner.

Ability to handle different tasks simultaneously, while maintaining concentration on intricate projects and details that need follow through.

Takes part in creating documentation and instruction materials related to scrum and the process flow.
