Basic Function
Performs higher level programming of controllers and monitors climate control system. Maintains building controls and control devices to ensure efficient operation of HVAC equipment to create a comfortable environment. Maintains and provides for the safe condition and operation of other building automation systems and devices within the scope of duties. Maintains, repairs, and installs heating and air conditioning system controls and cabling under general supervision.

The duties and responsibilities of a Controls Technician will include:
- Works independently in troubleshooting & repair of unresolved hardware and program controls systems including but not limited to software & hardware problems
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair hardware, devices, peripherals, software, and web applications, as well as set-up, configure and test equipment, & software
- Startup, test and commission controls systems in an integrated network
- Develop and maintain robust preventive maintenance program on controls systems
- IT Hardware and Software Support
- Integration of Software and Hardware into existing systems
- Program DDC Programable Logic Controllers
- End to end testing
- Operate, repair, maintain, and calibrate building control systems
Representing ABM, as you will consistently interact directly with customers and building engineers

Required qualifications:
- Niagara 4/Tridium Technical Certification Training
- Journeymen level or 5 years industry experience completion of projects involving DDC systems commissioning, software integration, calibration or troubleshooting
- Fundamental understanding of corporate connected building network architecture - Network Site Cross Connections, VM Ware, Various Data Communication Protocols ( ModBus, BACnet, BACnet/IP, BACnet/MSTP,etc)
- Prior HVAC experience
- Knowledge of common network systems
- Prior programming experience - familiarity with logical operations (PLC)
- Experience with controllers or microcontrollers
- Formal knowledge of HVAC Components (VAV’s, Air-Handlers, Pumps, unit ventilators, etc.)
- Completion of HVAC Trade school with Journeyman’s License or Graduated with bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- Excellent Communication Skills and Customer Service
- Attention to Detail and organizational skills
Experienced with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Access, etc.)

- Able to create, interpret and maintain control and mechanical schematics.
- Monitoring of cross site alarms through Niagara and willingness to communicate and respond in certain critical situations.
- Knowledge of analytics such as using project haystack and skyspark
- Project management skills
