THIS POSITION WILL BE FILLED BY
PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEE OF
LA DPS&C – CORRECTIONS SERVICES (Adult DOC)
This position may physically work from the St. Gabriel or the Baker location.
The selected employee may be required to serve a trial Detail prior to being permanently promoted.
In the supplemental questions section, applicants must authorize the HR Office of DPS&C-Corrections Services to contact prior employers to check references under the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) to be considered for employment.
No Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy.

This is a 24 hour facility.
Any degree, certificate, special license, or DD-214 must be verified by official documentation prior to hire.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Any of the following will qualify:
1. A baccalaureate degree plus three years of professional level experience in a correctional or penal institution; in a headquarters office having overall jurisdiction over correctional or penal institutions; or in a Prison Enterprises headquarters office.
2. A baccalaureate degree plus three years of experience in a correctional or penal institution with responsibility for the security, custody, and rehabilitation or classification of offenders in a position equivalent in scope of responsibility and/or complexity of work performed to a Corrections Captain in State service.
3. A baccalaureate degree plus three years of experience in Prison Enterprises with the responsibility for the security, custody, and rehabilitation of offenders in a position equivalent in the scope of responsibility and/or complexity of work performed to Prison Enterprises Quality Assurance Manager, Prison Enterprises Regional Manager, Prison Enterprises Industries Manager, Prison Enterprises Marketing Manager, Prison Enterprises Agriculture Manager and above.
Additional professional or sub-professional experience in qualifying fields will substitute for the required degree on a year for year basis.
A master's degree will substitute for one year of the required experience listed under any option.
A Ph.D. will substitute for two years of the required experience listed under any option.
Advanced degrees will substitute for a maximum of two years of the required experience.
Any college hours or degree must be from a school accredited by one of the following regional accrediting bodies: the Middle States Commission on Higher Education; the New England Commission of Higher Education; the Higher Learning Commission; the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities; the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by State and Federal laws is granted.
In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations an applicant who has been found to have engaged in any form of sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused will be disqualified.
FUNCTION OF WORK:
To administer a major program component at an adult correctional facility.
LEVEL OF WORK:
Broad direction from a higher level Administrator.
Direct line over lower level staff.
LOCATION OF WORK:
Department of Public Safety and Corrections, Corrections Services, Office of Adult Services.
Differs from Correction Deputy Wardens by lack of responsibility for all facility operations.
Differs from department manager by responsibility for all aspects of one of the three major program components of a correctional facility.
Differs from higher level Corrections Assistant Wardens by lack of responsibility for all security, administration and treatment operations.

Assists in developing policies and procedures in an assigned program area.
Monitors staff and inspects facilities to insure proper administration of policies and procedures.
Prepares reports and recommendations regarding operations.
Assumes full responsibility for the facility during the absence of a warden and deputy warden.
Conducts staff meetings and staffing reviews.
Supervises offender disciplinary or classification functions.
Assists in budget preparation and justification of needs in program areas.
Assists during any facility emergencies and provides telephone or personal input in the event of any significantly unusual occurrence on a 24-hour basis.
Maintains frequent contact with offenders and families of offenders, headquarters support staff, and units of local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
Represents the facility to the news media and civic organizations upon request by the Correction Warden.
Oversees all facility operations during peak activities after normal working hours.
Oversees disciplinary court activities, offender recreational activities, visitations, treatment programs, religious activities, social services activities, and offender organizations.
Oversees all roving security of the facility after hours.
