The Principal Data Engineer is responsible for providing technology leadership and hands-on contributions towards a global team of Data Engineers to deliver relevant, timely and insightful information to the business.
You will be responsible for developing code and configuring software that generates required data in support of reporting and analysis. Also builds and maintains foundational data sets for business units and internal groups.
Design and develop innovative solutions to meet the needs of the business and interacts with business partners and key contacts
Use Big data technologies to enrich and transform data and do data analytics, machine learning
Lead technology decisions, drive product implementation and delivery
Support the implementation and drive it to stable state in production
Provide alternate design solutions along with project estimates
Review code and provide feedback relative to best practices, improving performance etc.
Troubleshoot production support issues post-deployment and come up with solutions as required
Demonstrate substantial depth of knowledge and experience in a specific area of Big Data and Java development and Drive the team and collaborate to meet project timelines
5+ years of Data Engineering experience
Experience Designing and developing ETL processes using Talend Framework, IBM Data Stage, Quality Stage, PL/SQL, SQl and Korn/Bash Shell script
Using Map Reduce and Hadoop ecosystem to process datasets and build reports for Business Intelligence
Experience in Creating RDD’s, Datasets and Data Frames in Spark Framework using Scala/Python
Develop supervised/unsupervised Machine Learning Algorithms for solving business problems
Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
BA/BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
Experience with core programming skills in languages like Java and Scala or Python
Experience with Hadoop ecosystem (Hive, Spark, etc.)
Extensive experience with a variety of database technologies (HBase, Postgres, Teradata, Cassandra, SQL Server, Oracle)
Experience in an Agile environment (i.e. user stories, iterative development, etc.)
Knowledge of building data integrations using APIs, streaming technologies (Kafka), ETL, ELT, and other data integration patterns
Experience with CI/CD toolchains
Knowledge of Docker, Jenkins, Kubernetes
