JOB SUMMARY
The Regional On-road Fleet Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring the safety and reliability of vehicles and equipment in a cost-efficient manner for assigned locations; enforcing and administering the quality and safety compliance rules and regulations; managing personnel conducting scheduled and unscheduled maintenance; ensuring all parts and mechanic times are charged to work orders; and that work performed is properly described on repair orders.
CORE RESPONSIBILITES

Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when and where required.

Schedule preventative service and repairs with other departments as needed.

Coordinate outside repairs and properly request PO’s and Capital expenditures.

Communicate with the maintenance team, operators and drivers about the current status of equipment being operated and repaired.

Perform daily review of workload and provide guidance to supervisors where needed.

Triage which work should be conducted in house or sent for external repair.

Monitor warranty process within shop to ensure maximum return.

Perform daily review of the previous days work orders, noting and addressing instances of recurring faults, rework, or lack of productivity within shop.

Prepare and conduct quantitative annual performance reviews of supervisors.

Assist supervisors in preparing and conducting annual performance reviews of their direct reports and act as supplementary reviewer.

Conduct quality control inspections to ensure proper repairs are made and units are road worthy.

Conduct quality assurance inspections to ensure processes are being followed.

Evaluate shop needs and develop solutions to meet KPI’s.

Update data base with current and accurate data.

Conduct daily safety meetings.

Track job-related training for staff members.
-
Prioritize scheduled maintenance.

Assign maintenance personnel to jobs based on their capabilities.

Determine necessary repairs and work with the Parts Department to order the parts required to service scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.

Ensure all materials used have a MSDS on hand, that all MSDS books are current and that all personnel are trained on how to use and read a MSDS.

Attend safety meetings.

Adhere to and enforce company rules policies and procedures.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

At least five years of shop experience
-
At least three years of maintenance supervisory or management experience
-
Experience performing maintenance on large fleets
-
Experience maintaining and repairing hydraulic, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, transmissions, HVAC and special body applications

Ability to work with minimal oversight or supervision

Demonstrated leadership skills

Time management skills
-
Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English

Proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite – e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook

Reliable transportation
-
Ability to travel to remote company sites
PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Bilingual in English and Spanish

Class B commercial driver’s license (CDL)

Safe driving record for the past five years

Safety or Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) certifications

Maintenance management or supervisory certifications

Proficiency with computerized maintenance management software (CMMS)

Department of Transportation (DOT) inspector certification

ASE or dealer certification with annual continuing education credits

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or related field
