The primary responsibility of this position is to provide leadership and direction to the manufacturing engineering group. They will ensure alignment of their team towards the strategic goals; focusing on key metrics for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. This individual will help to create a culture of continuous improvement through the development of technical skills and competencies within their group and by partnering with other disciplines in pursuit of operational excellence. They will also support the New Product Introductions for product produced within the Danner US manufacturing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

Manages, motivates, develops and provides technical guidance to engineering staff. Challenges each individual to perform at the highest professional level while providing a work environment where each person can thrive.
Develops members of the manufacturing engineering team ensuring a sound understanding and working knowledge of LEAN manufacturing concepts and Continuous Improvement principles (e.g. 6-sigma).
Ensures sound engineering principles and concepts are consistently applied throughout the implementation of product and process improvements. Works closely with individuals to correctly apply appropriate engineering techniques and tools. Works with individuals to continually learn and apply industry best practices as they relate to the design and development of products.
Responsible for ensuring manufacturability of new product introductions and developing manufacturing capabilities and capacity as needed.
Resolves production issues by determining the root cause of manufacturing defects or reworks and making recommendations to correct and resolve the problems
Leads efforts to reduce variation and improve overall quality through the identification of root cause and implementation of robust solutions.
Identifies opportunities to implement new capital equipment and processes to drive improved quality, efficiency or cost reductions. Leads/oversees development of ROI efforts to determine potential savings.
Seeks improvements in factory layout to optimize flow along value streams and collaborates with Manufacturing, Maintenance and Supply Chain to implement.
Trains and mentors factory employees in basic lean manufacturing and quality system concepts, helping them to understand, embrace, and utilize those skills
Utilizes team-based approach to elicit employee participation in the development of systems that improve the business
Supports ISO requirements

Must possess working knowledge of LEAN concepts and principles. 6-sigma Greenbelt preferred
Experience with ISO preferred.
Knowledge of solid modeling and 2D software programs required

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering with minimum of 8 years experience.
4+ years of leadership experience in an engineering role
Green Belt in Six Sigma preferred
Experience in leading lean manufacturing initiatives
Thorough understanding and working experience relative to the ISO-9001 Quality System requirements.
This position reports directly to the Director of Manufacturing and Engineering.
