Under the direction of the Site Director (directly-operated sites) or the Teacher Coach (partner sites), the Infant Toddler Teacher takes the lead in working with the entire classroom team to implement a formal child screening process, a researched-based curriculum, on-going child assessment, parent involvement and community collaboration.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. The organization reserves the right to add to, delete, change or modify the essential duties and responsibilities at any time.
Coordinates and completes developmental screening of all children to help identify any special needs.
Responsible for implementing active supervision of children at all times and ensuring child safety.
Teaches children in large groups, small groups, and individually. Teaches each class daily as scheduled and assigned.
Works with the classroom team to implement the curriculum, serving as educational leader, and modeling excellent teaching practices.
Convenes meetings of the classroom team each week to develop lesson plans, child assessment results and develop individualized instruction plans.
Completes regular assessments of each child’s learning in Teaching Strategies GOLD.
Welcomes parents/guardian in the program and seeks out their support and involvement. Holds parent-teacher conferences throughout the year.
Participates in Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP) meetings for children with special needs as requested by parents/guardian.
Maintains a comprehensive and ongoing education file for each child, including weekly observations in each area, examples of the child’s work, and a developmental assessment.
Maintains a safe and healthy classroom environment. Assure that classroom equipment, furniture, materials, and supplies are properly maintained and stored.
Maintains confidentiality of child and family information at all times.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education or equivalent.
At least two years of Early Childhood Teaching experience.
Infant/Toddler staff must also have coursework or training relevant to this age group.
Must hold or obtain within six months a Gateways Level 5 Infant Toddler or ECE Credential
