Bergerson-Caswell, Inc. is looking to add a team member to take care of our fleet and facilities. The primary responsibility of this position is taking care of our fleet of work trucks, trailers and other power equipment. Secondarily, you would also be in charge of organizing and/or performing maintenance and improvements for our shop and yard. Position Summary:
The Shop Manager is in charge of installation, maintenance, and repair. Works in maintenance, parts replacement, and repair of vehicles, and industrial machinery.
- Maintains vehicle functional condition by responding to repair requests from operators; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical and electrical system malfunctions; replacing parts and components
- Maintain shop functionality, organization, cleanliness and supply levels
- Maintain yard functionality and cleanliness – maintain a properly graded yard to ensure proper drainage and travel. Report to department managers when their respective work areas need attention
- Keep equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles and equipment; completing preventive maintenance such as; engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, and replacing filters and other parts
- Examine and test machinery, equipment, components, and parts for defects, and to ensure proper functioning
- Clean or lubricate vehicles, machinery, equipment, instruments, tools, work areas, and other objects, using hand tools, power tools, and cleaning equipment
- Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufactures’ specifications
- Repair and replace damaged or worn parts
- Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment in order to diagnose defects
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices
- Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools
- Perform DOT Inspections on vehicles and trailers
Position Qualifications:
- Reliable and consistent attendance
- Ability to operate and train others to operate a forklift safely
- Knowledge of heavy machinery diagnostics and repair
- Knowledge of DOT regulations concerning vehicle inspections, repairs, and reporting requirements
- Safety Awareness – Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety.
- Time Management – Ability to utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines
Certifications & License Requirements:
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) – Class A preferred
- Safe driving record
- HAZWOPER Training Certification
- Minnesota Commercial Vehicle Inspector Certification
- Ability and willingness to obtain licensing through organizations as needed for individual standards as well as company regulations

Work Environment:
The work environment is often greasy and dirty because of the lubed vehicle parts that are being handled. The tools and large vehicles may make the environment loud as well. The need for ventilation in the shop -- to vent away fumes from the chemicals used in repairing trucks and machines can make the environment drafty as well.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $32.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
