We currently have a career opportunity for an Associate in a highly collaborative team environment. We perform audits, reviews, and compilations for nonpublic companies up to $25 million in a variety of engineering and technology industries. You will be responsible for assisting with these engagements, preparing workpapers, and researching problems. As Associate, you will be expected to develop an understanding and knowledge of the firm's client service approach, professional requirements and lines of business. As the ability to assume greater levels of responsibility is demonstrated, more complex technical areas may be assigned. The firm expects the Associate to be actively invested in continuing professional education and becoming a valuable resource for the rest of the team.
We are a small, 100% virtual CPA firm with small business clients and professional staff across the US.

This is a remote position
Work may be done from a dedicated home office or a virtual office location with reliable internet or a private office (i.e. Regus, Spaces, etc.), physically within the continental US.
Work may NOT be performed in a public space or outside of the US.
Work hours are between 8AM - 5PM EST or 9AM – 6PM EST, Monday through Friday.
You must be available for phone calls, instant messaging and video conferencing during work hours.
This is a full-time, salaried, day-time position.
You are expected to stay in touch daily using Asana, Skype Business, and phone.
Required technology includes (1) minimum 15-inch laptop or larger, (2) 2nd 20-inch monitor or larger, (3) minimum internet speed of 25Mbps, and (4) a smartphone. These specs will be tested.
You are expected to be tech savvy, have the ability to figure out most apps, can follow "Help" and be willing to Google or YouTube anything else. You do not need to be a network engineer…
Expected travel is 10-15%
The Associate will be expected to:
Prepare workpapers, analysis, memos, and other documentation to support conclusions.
Ensure that work is error free and ready for the Principal's review
Develop an understanding and knowledge of the firm's client service approach, professional requirements and lines of business.
Demonstrate knowledge generally accepted accounting principles
Prepare compiled financial statements, schedules, and letters.
Reconcile payroll and payroll related problems
Prepare business tax returns (less than 15 per year)
Prepare loan amortization schedule, prepaid schedules, and others
Update and maintain depreciation schedules
Identify problems and work closely with clients to adjust their trial balance
Provide guidance and instruction to clients for maintaining their accounting records in accordance with GAAP
Troubleshoot and advise clients on using QuickBooks desktop
Develop an understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulations
Maintain accurate records and descriptions of work performed for hourly and fixed price projects.
Accomplish tasks within stipulated schedules
Effectively work through roadblocks and barriers to get results.
Identify and solve issues.
While this is an entry-level position, this is not an apprenticeship or internship. We are not college professors. You will be expected to perform essential functions with minimal supervision and instruction.

Proficiency using Windows, Word, Excel
Minimum 1 year experience using QuickBooks
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Identifies key business issues, analyzing the effects of actions and consequences.
Willingly incorporates new processes, procedures, or technology into daily routine.
Embraces the need for, and demonstrates excellent communication (English) and collaboration.
Writes concisely, persuasively, and grammatically correct.
Quickly grasps new concepts and ideas.
Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task.
Pass a technical skills assessment with 75% or more
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
2 years of college with a major in accounting or 15 credits in college-level accounting courses.
Working towards a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, preferred.
