Full Job Description
The Senior Director, Specialty Programs and Program Evaluation, has oversight and responsibility over four specialty program areas (Arts & Culture, Education & Employment, Health & Wellness and Nutrition and Culinary Arts) as well as the agency's Data & Evaluation efforts. This individual works collaboratively with the Senior Management team, Administration and program staff to assist with agency-wide initiatives such as a robust staff development, clinical documentation and fund development, as well as other strategic initiatives to advance the organization.
Reports to: Chief Program Officer
Location: Manhattan with travel to program sites in Brooklyn, Bronx and Queens
This is a full-time position with a regular daytime schedule. Lantern staff may be asked to change work schedule and hours depending on the operational needs of the site and the agency.
Specialty Program Management
Provide administrative and program supervision of four Specialty Program Directors and indirectly oversee their reports, currently 18 staff across the four programs
Actively participate in the planning, start up, long-term implementation and evaluation of Lantern's specialty programs, including overseeing activity and event logistics and involvement of staff
Manage program budgets and understand the contract requirements in order to relate funding to performance
Determine program deliverables and report on program outcomes using metrics and other evaluation methods
Ensure that specialty programs are fully integrated into overall programming at all Lantern sites
Ensure that quality guidelines and recommendations are met
Data and Performance Metrics Management
Supervise Data Manager
Oversee ongoing development and implementation of program evaluation efforts including the development and implementation of logic models, evaluation plans, data collection tools, and reporting, including Lantern's monthly Dashboard report
Oversee documentation database (ETO-Social Solutions) to ensure chart documentation meets funder requirements and is user friendly for staff
Co-facilitate monthly Clinical Documentation Workgroup meetings aimed at improving agency record keeping and data management systems.
Evidence-Based Program Management
Oversee selection, implementation and management of all evidence-based programs
Determine where models are needed and oversee selection process using objective criteria including funding priority and availability
Develop and manage EB program budgets in coordination with the contract requirements
Assist with the negotiation and oversight of contracts with model developers and consultants
Monitor staff fidelity and develop and implement plans to improve
Justify program investment by developing and reporting outcome measures that demonstrate positive impact on the lives of our clients
Staff Training and Development
Work closely with the Chief Program Officer and other senior staff to analyze training needs, develop new training programs, and/or modify and improve existing trainings
Conduct or arrange for ongoing technical training and professional development trainings for staff
Provide onboarding training related to specialty programs and evidenced based models
Work closely with the Executive Director, Chief Program Officer, External Affairs Manager and Program Manager to identify and research new funding opportunities
Assist with writing grant proposals; help to develop project goals, objectives, timelines, budgets and evaluation plan
Monitor the implementation of grants and assist with reports to funders

Required Education and Experience:
Master's Degree in a related field (Psychology, Social Work, Public Administration)
Experience in a supervisory role which includes operational/administrative management for 5+ years in a socially responsible organization
Experience in development of social services documentation, program evaluation and outcome measurement.
Demonstrated ability with budget development and fiscal management.
Excellent writing and people skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team
Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to the mission of Lantern Community Services
Flexible and able to multitask - can work within an ambiguous, fast moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems
Experience as an administrator or user with ETO/ Social Solutions
Demonstrated expertise in one of the Specialty program areas and/or Housing/services to Homeless individuals
Experience implementing and working with evidence-based models
Supervisory Responsibility: Supervises four Specialty Program Directors and the Data Manager
Work Environment: This job operates in a supportive housing site and works with a population who experiences mental illness, addiction, disability, HIV, and other chronic illnesses.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, climb stairs and/ or kneel. They must also use hands to type, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 5 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Some positions at Lantern Community Services have work responsibilities at more than one work site as well as field work in the community. These employees are required to travel between sites during the work day with physical demands that could include walking up to .25 miles, climbing stairs and carrying work materials that could weigh up to 8 lbs.
