SALARY RANGE: $26.49-$33.94 per hour, part-time (up to 20 hours/week), sick leave accrual of one hour per every 30 hours worked for a total accrual of up to 48 hours per year as defined in Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

Under general supervision, the individual will inspect, operate and maintain the water treatment system and related amenities to supply, treat, store, and distribute water for potable water distribution system; ensure safe and efficient delivery of clean water to customers; conduct regular testing of treated water using necessary equipment; and maintain a variety of records and logs in accord-ance with state requirements. There is one Extra-Help position (up to 20 hours per week) available in the Public Works Department. Main worksite location is Stonyford, CA.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or an equivalent certificate or diploma recognized by State of California.
  • Two years experience in operation, monitoring, testing, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater treatment facilities and systems.
  • Possession of a T3 Water Treatment Plant Operator Certificate issued by the California State Department of Public Health (CDPH). Must maintain valid certification as a condition of employment.
  • D2 distribution license preferred; required within the first year of service.
  • A valid State of California driver’s license and an acceptable driving record. The successful applicant will be required to provide an official CA DMV INF-1125 Driver Record printout upon acceptance of job offer.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Perform a variety of tasks associated with the daily operation of the County’s water treatment systems; ensures compliance with all county, state, and federal regulations related to water quality; take immediate and appropriate actions to maintain water quality.

Physically and/or with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, adjust pump settings, chemical feed settings and other equipment to maintain compliance with all county, state, and federal regulations.

Install and removes motors in wells and booster pumps; install, repair, and/or calibrate a variety of equipment at pump or well stations or potable water treatment facilities such as meters, pump assemblies, hydraulic regulator valves, turbidity units and new motor starting equipment.

Conduct regular testing of treated water to observe quality standards of water and instrumentation. Take water samples and perform laboratory tests including those for chlorine, turbidity, and bacteriological analysis.

Respond to water quality complaints and inquiries from water users.

Manage, mentors train, provide instruction, rate performance for assigned staff, as well as performs the actual work of the functions.

Must be able to respond to emergency call out situations and perform standby duty for emergency responses on nights, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to work rotating shift, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Receive supplies delivered and ensure that they are properly stored.

Perform inspections and preventive maintenance of treatment facilities and equipment.

Diagnose operational problems and perform effective maintenance on equipment.

Respond to changing demands on water flow, water quality, state and federal regulations and requirements.

Perform related duties as assigned.
