Responsibilities held by the Staff Accountant include the preparation of monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. The majority of time spent will be dedicated to producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, you will be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting. In addition, you will be in charge of communicating with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, playing an active role in compliance, and looking over schedules for the reporting processes.

Your responsibilities

  • Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
  • Assist in monthly financial close workbook preparation, including annual closing process
  • Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed
  • Offer descriptions of a large number of financial data and communicate insights in a useful and understandable manner
  • Take part in various department-wide initiatives
  • Create monthly statement analysis to be used for management reportings
  • Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision
  • Support fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
  • Take part the in implementation and adherence to internal controls under SOX accounting procedures, ensuring compliance with GAAP
  • Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules
  • High attention to detail
  • Spreadsheet and database capabilities
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative and social skills
  • Recent and relevant accounting experience
  • Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
  • Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
  • Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines
  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
  • Bank reconciliations experience preferred
  • Foundational knowledge in month end closings
  • Strong familiarity with journal entries
  • Microsoft Excel experience desired
  • Experience with ERP systems
