AECOM is seeking Controls Engineers to support our new data center operations and maintenance business units in Texas.
+ These positions typically work 12-hour shifts from 7:00am – 7:00pm OR 7:00pm – 7:00am; shifts alternate every 4 months.
+ Must be able to flex hours and cover for team members and special projects to meet critical business demand.
+ Hiring bonus may be available to qualified candidates outside of the commuting area.
The Controls Engineer is responsible for acting as a subject matter expert with respect to the operation, advanced troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of the critical environmental automation and control systems. Collaborates with specialized technicians, subcontractors and/or vendors to execute preventive and corrective maintenance, leveraging a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work safely around 480v 3-phase electrical power circuits.
Provides instruction, mentors and trains less skilled technicians as needed. Effectively communicates with the site management team and the customer to understand requirements, solve electrical problems, and provide solutions to critical infrastructure problems.
+ Properly maintains and operates building HVAC control systems, including troubleshooting mechanical and electrical system sensors.
+ Creates and modifies schedules, alarms and data point trending.
+ Utilizes system reporting tools to create and modify reports.
+ Troubleshoots mechanical and electrical system sensors.
+ Configures automation network equipment.
+ Demonstrates expertise in Building Management systems for the assigned areas.
+ Assists in maintaining accurate records and logs of various operations and equipment.
+ Responsible for optimal HVAC performance/energy efficiency through the use of best practices.
+ May be required to review and assist with construction and installation of systems and expansion of existing systems. This may include assisting with documentation, commissioning, and reviewing specifications and drawings against installations.
+ Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
+ Follows policies and procedures, completing all necessary documentation and time reporting accurately and on
+ Complies with all environmental, health safety, and other regulatory requirements related to the facilities and lab support functions.
+ Works proactively to identify potential project problems or opportunities, analyzes these issues using appropriate resources, and develops and implements optimum alternatives.
+ Clearly understands AECOM scope of work and contract requirements for the area of responsibility.
+ Understands company policies and enforces safety regulations.
+ Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE as required.
+ Demonstrates attention to detail, good comprehensive and analytical skills, and excellent organizational skills.
+ Maintains a strict schedule in order to be successful in the assignment, yet demonstrates flexibility in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer.
+ Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor as necessary to meet current contingency and/or mission requirements.

1. High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
2. Six years of experience performing Building Automation System / Building Monitoring System controls maintenance in a data center, heavy industrial, or pharmaceutical/biomedical environment, or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
3. EPA Universal certification.
4. Must have an active or inactive US Government Top Secret Security Clearance . If inactive, must have been active within the last 6 months and be able to obtain a Top Secret Security Clearance within 1 year of hire.

+ Requires the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift.
+ Requires the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift.
+ Requires the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.
+ Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife.
+ Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.
+ Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.
+ Requires ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen.
+ Requires ability to use a variety of office equipment and to operate a computer keyboard to access data bases, to send/receive messages and to prepare documents.
+ Demonstrated fluency in computer use including the full Microsoft product line.
+ Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
+ Requires the ability to communicate with others on the telephone and in one-on-one or group discussions, meetings and presentations.
+ Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
+ Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.
1. Knowledge of data center infrastructure.
2. Associate’s Degree in HVAC, Industrial Technology, Industrial Mechanical, Industrial Electrical, or related program.
3. Experience troubleshooting BAS / BMS systems and controls (Honeywell, Siemens, Edstrom, etc.)
4. Possess knowledge of Building Systems sequence of operations
5. Experience diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing process mechanical systems such as HVAC equipment and utilities supporting same.
6. Experience working with Fire Protection Systems
7. Knowledge of Water Systems used in critical environment applications.
8. Experience troubleshooting, repairing and working with electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and pneumatic systems.
9. Experience using testing equipment such as meggers, voltmeters, multi-meters, etc. used in maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
10. Experience utilizing a CMMS.
+ Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends.
