Overview
The Abstractor II will be responsible for the following key duties which support deliverables across all therapeutic lines from the Digital Patient Clone™ and other Life Sciences products to the Life Sciences sector. This role will play an integral part in meeting and optimally exceeding client expectations which advance Ciox’s presence in the marketplace as an industry leader advancing real world evidence research.
Abstract de-identified clinical data from provider and payor databases based on Life Sciences client request;
Validate abstracted de-identified clinical data in response to quality checks
Work with project team colleagues to develop data collection tool formats, data dictionaries, abstraction guidelines, and other business rule documents as requested by the client (“project specific work”).
Responsibilities
Clinical Data Abstraction
Perform clinical data abstraction based upon project specific work.
Redact documentation from record copies according to project specifications.
Provide input into the updating and maintenance of the master clinical data abstraction manual to include client question & answer tracking as well as references and instructions distributed to the project team.
Represent Ciox Health to clients in a professional manner through conference calls and electronic interaction, as needed.
Assist in recommending action plans to improve abstracting clinical data.
Participate, as assigned, in the implementation of action plan items and assist in conducting follow-up studies to assess the impact of quality improvement efforts.
Assist in testing new and revised abstraction databases, as needed.
Maintain current knowledge of project requirements related to clinical data abstraction.
Maintain current clinical data abstraction skills.
Track completion of assigned work and report status, as needed.
Additional Responsibilities:
Adapt to changes in client study timelines, requirements, and project assignments.
Submit timesheets, time off requests, and other pertinent forms in accordance with Ciox Health.
Maintain strict confidentiality and security of all homebased office clinical data / PHI containing copies and electronic files, ensuring active copy security during and outside of work hours.
Prepare project-specific reports as required.

Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in HIM or Nursing required. A mixture of appropriate education and experience may be substituted.
RHIT/RHIA, RN, LPN, or CTR obtained or eligible/willingness to sit for such certification strongly preferred.
1+ year demonstrated experience in performing clinical data abstraction like functions.
Demonstrated expect level knowledge of medical record structure, format and content. Oncology expert level knowledge strongly preferred.
Demonstrated expert level knowledge of medical diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Oncology expert level knowledge strongly preferred.
Demonstrated knowledgeable in pharmacology and microbiology. Oncology expert level knowledge strongly preferred.
Demonstrated able to manage multiple and organize tasks and competing priorities.
Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Demonstrated proficiency in computer fundamentals and applications; able to learn new computer applications.
Demonstrated knowledge of electronic health records (EHR’s) and other clinical information systems, as well as electronic data capture tools.
Demonstrated strong analytic skills.
