General Statement of Duties: Ensures the stable operation of the Montrose County Microsoft Server environment. This includes supporting Microsoft Server, 2008, 2012, 2016, Active Directory, installing, configuring, maintaining, patching, supporting, and optimizing all Microsoft software whether virtual or physical.

Supervision Received: Works under the general supervision and direction of the IT Director. Develops, recommends and implements solutions based on analysis and consultation with the Network/Systems Manager and or the IT Director.

Supervision Exercised: No direct supervisor responsibility however may be required to direct staff members on projects, implementation, troubleshooting, etc.

Essential Functions: Any one position may not include all of the duties listed nor do the listed examples include all duties which may be found in positions of this class.

Manages and supports Montrose County's Microsoft server environment primarily made up of Hyper-Converged Server Infrastructure along with other legacy servers and storage.
Provides planning, design, configuration, implementation documentation and top-level support and ownership of all Windows Server 2008, 2012 and 2016 environments.
Responsible for managing and supporting various applications that reside on the Windows Server Infrastructure.
Responsible for assisting in the support and upgrades of Microsoft Active Directory.
Assist in the design and rollout of Windows 10 to end user workstations.
Triage and remediate technical infrastructure issues.
Researches options providing functional and technical written evaluations of products and operating system upgrades and patches, etc.
Optimizes infrastructure performance to improve end-user experience.
Maintains awareness of technology developments and trends and makes recommendations to management.
Participates in cross-functional team projects to implement new or updated technology.
Creates and maintains systems documentation for testing and validation.
Maintains relevant and current knowledge, expected to be a leader, within assigned technical field.
Prioritizes work efforts, multi-task in a very fast-paced environment, and provide timely and clear updates.
May be required to lead large deployment projects.
Performs post-implementation 3rd level support, identifying root cause with strategic solutions to problems.
Manages Domain Controllers and their associated operating systems, and software.
Manages and implements the appropriate Operating System patches and updates.
Enforces policies, procedures and associated training plans for user resource administration, appropriate use according to the user manual.
Assist with End User problem resolution as required.
Perform rotational on-call duties.
Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems or related field preferred. Will consider equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree.

Experience: Minimum four (4) years relevant server administration or related work experience.

Language Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to present ideas and technical concepts to an audience with varying IT knowledge. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Able to read, interpret and apply instructional manuals and IT policy and procedures. Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.

Interpersonal Skills: Establish and maintain effective working relationships. Strong customer service orientation. Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Ability to work successfully with minimal supervision in an atmosphere with multiple projects, shifting priorities, and deadline pressures.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Skills: Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Ability to conduct research into issues and products.

Computer Skills: Centralized management and configuration of operating systems and applications. Scripting skills are a must in at least one of the following languages: Shell Scripting, VBScript, PowerShell or Python. Working knowledge of MS-Server 2008, 2012, 2016, DHCP and TCP/IP.

This is a high-pressure professional services organization or other similar organization requiring attention to detail and sensitivity to confidential information. Hazards: exposure to computer screens.

Special Requirements: Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License and satisfactory driving record. Able to work evenings or weekends on an as needed basis. Keen attention to detail, highly self-motivated and directed. Willingness to continue gaining experience, knowledge and skill to continue professional growth.
