Prepare and administer a curriculum that will develop students into empathetic, competent, dynamic physical therapists as life-long learners.
Description of Duties & Tasks
Essential Job Functions
1. Teaching
a. Teaching in the classroom and/or laboratory.
b. Provide the highest quality of teaching with the most current content information possible. This would include:
1) good quality audio-visual materials in lecture and laboratory;
2) accurate syllabus and handouts;
3) supplementary computer assisted instruction materials; and/or
4) demonstration by role playing and real patient examples.
c. Provide the highest quality of clinical supervision.
d. Maintain and promote high standards of intellectual integrity.
e. Provide a syllabus at the beginning of each course to guide the student in planning.
f. Maintain records of student grades and progress.
g. Prepare examinations that assess the student’s accomplishment of lecture and laboratory objectives.
2. Communication
a. Be open to interaction with students in class and available through office hours at least two (2) hours per week when students are not scheduled to be in class. Be willing to schedule further time as needed by the student. Be a mentor to the students.
b. Exhibit teamwork and cooperation within the department and other departments within the University.
c. Interact appropriately within the department and University with all levels of administration and support staff, from President to Security Guard.
d. Be timely and accurate in all communications.
3. Scholarship and Research
a. Participate in grant proposals, scholarly publications or oral/poster presentations.
b. Conduct research individually or in collaboration with University faculty and/or community clinicians.
c. Maintain current knowledge in the profession by conference and seminar attendance, as well as by research and teaching.
4. Service
a. Serve on Departmental, College, and University committees.
b. Become involved in elected, appointed and/or volunteer American Physical Therapy Association or other professional activities.
c. Participate in community service activities.
5. Clinical Practice of Physical Therapy/Professional Development
a. Maintain skill levels and acknowledge by clinical practice or continuing education.
6. Align to CAHP expectations and maintain compliance with CAPTE standards, policies and
procedures.
7. Special projects as assigned from year to year.
8. May be required to be a committee chair.
9. May guest lecture for other programs in the University.
10. May be required to attend university functions outside normal working hours.
11. Assist other faculty with practical examinations.
12. Provide tutorial classes for students who require remediation.

1. Proven track record with conducting research and publishing or presenting research results with an ongoing line of research.
2. Knowledge of research literature, research methods and proposal writing; ability to relate relevant research to course materials.
3. Experience of 3 or more years in the area in which courses will be taught.
4. Knowledge of content in the area of assigned instruction.
5. Ability to organize and present material in lecture and laboratory.
6. Ability to communicate effectively in large and small groups as well as one-on-one.
7. Ability to accurately examine the knowledge and clinical skills attained by the students.

Qualification Standards
1. Education: Graduation from an accredited physical therapy program. PhD, EdD or advanced academic degree required, can be in process.
2. Experience: Three years or more years’ experience teaching in content area.
2. Licensure: As required. Oregon State PT license or eligible for State licensure.
3. Preferences: Preference will be given to individuals with knowledge of physical therapy practice and an established research agenda and interest in administration.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
