The Distribution/Shipping Manager is directly accountable and responsible for the management of safety, quality, production, scheduling/planning, and distribution/warehousing activities of the facility in accordance with the Company’s policies, principles, and procedures. The facility Distribution/Shipping Manager will continuously review all of the operational processes, systems, assets, and methodologies of the plant and will develop a strategic and tactical operational plan which aligns with the objectives and strategies of the Company’s annual business plan and budget.
Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:
The Distribution/Shipping Manager directs all operations of the facility by perpetuating the following responsibilities, either personally or through subordinate Leads, and in a manner consistent with the values and standards of the Company:
Execution and achievement of the objectives and goals within the annual business plan and budget
Motivate and maintain a safe and environmentally-compliant facility
Perpetual assessment and adjustment of current strategies, systems, procedures, performance, capabilities, equipment, facilities, and people to maintain and enhance safety, production, service, quality, and profitability
Oversight of all Quality, Distribution, and Warehousing activities in accordance with policies, principles and procedures
Execution of supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems
Conference and collaborate with customers, sales, and internal/external support resources to evaluate, develop, and process
Oversee/confirm invoice process
Promote strategies designed to improve service, quality and product value.
Oversee order planning
Communicate with operations team regarding scheduling conflicts and allocate orders in MRP system
Identify, troubleshoot and resolve logistical issues with minimal guidance
Inputs information into sales orders and related customer information into applicable systems along with investigating problems related to shipment of products, credits, new orders and other customer-related matters.
Reviews exceptions with Leads prior to action.
Ability to quickly and accurately input data into computer software applications (ERP (PRMS), TMS applications, TRANSPLACE web application)
Proficiency and demonstrated experience in business/freight computer systems functionality
Ability to identify complex problems and review related information
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned
Team Player with ability to build lasting productive business relationships
Knowledge of inventory control, warehouse operations, transportation operations, order management, performance metrics, costs, and other techniques
The minimum education requirement of this position is a B.A. or B.S. Degree from a four-year university or college. A Master’s degree in Business Administration and hands on understanding of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma is preferred.
This position requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience
Good judgment, initiative, attention to detail, drive for change, getting organizational support, building ownership and commitment, making though decisions and developing others.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
