Position Summary

This position is responsible to develop and drive the overall information technology strategy for the Company. The Director of IT is also tasked to lead various team members through both day-to-day and project-based activities in support of the Company’s applications and network architecture. This role demands devising highly effective technological solutions to meet the needs of the business while also maintaining an eye towards: budget, network security, ease of use and department service standards. The Director of IT must be mindful of driving an IT strategy which is appropriate for current needs while also being scalable and flexible. The ideal candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate proven leadership abilities along with a strong acumen to build and support a broad IT infrastructure for a rapidly growing organization with diverse technological needs.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

Build and maintain a comprehensive of understanding of business requirements related to IT; align strategic objectives with internal stakeholders and senior management
Develop and sustain a core application and database architecture which facilitates efficient and timely sharing of critical information and processing of business transactions
Continually assess the network and systems architecture of the business; diagnose the strengths of weaknesses of current technological solutions; drive IT department initiatives to address problem areas and reach greater operational alignment with business needs
Provide ongoing coaching and training to department team members; challenge them to enhance their technological and service skills through effective goal setting and by providing developmental resources
Implement and manage a highly effective strategy related to network and information security; develop mechanisms to stay ahead of security threats
Preside over the day-to-day duties of the department; ensure effective management of activities and high-level service delivery to internal customers
Drive strategic IT projects to positive end results by: aligning goals and timelines with stakeholders, communicating project plans internally, appropriately assigning duties to project team members, establishing project phase gates, and course correcting project efforts as needed to achieve deliverables
Construct and manage an IT environment compliant with Sarbanes-Oxley and other internal Company control procedures
Manage the overall department budget; help to establish budgetary parameters for annual department spend; align department strategy in concert with budgetary standards of the organization
Prioritize the workflow for the department both in terms of day-to-day and project-based initiatives while allocating resources accordingly
Role model effective communication strategies for direct report team; set high standards of work quality and professionalism
Work to streamline direct report team member activities by modifying processes and approaches as needed
Represent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactions
Perform all other duties as assigned
Education and Experience

BS degree in computer science, information systems, business or other relevant field of study; advanced degree and/or MBA preferred
10+ years of direct work experience within IT leadership
Professional certifications related to network and systems architecture strongly preferred
Project management certification highly preferred
Considerable knowledge of business theory, business processes, management, budgeting, and business office operations
Highly adept with cyber security and network security strategy development
Substantial exposure to data processing, hardware platforms, enterprise software applications, server management and outsourced systems
Experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management
Inspirational leadership characteristics; proven ability to coach and enable team development
Proven track record in project management; delivering quality results on-time and on budget
Dynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders at all levels
