Currently seeking Datacenter Technicians to support the deployment and the maintenance of servers, network devices and PC-related devices under the specific instructions provided by the support team. The ideal candidate for this role balances technical skills, attention-to-detail, and a challenge-driven attitude to resolve technical issues for sustaining and deployment activities. Technician can work unsupervised with minimal direction from management, and will also contribute in creating knowledge library, e.g. Knowledge Base Articles, SOP etc. Additionally, the tech will assist with new product introduction activities related to field services.
Day to Day Work
This position requires an on-site presence in the datacenter environment.
Provide technical support to client which will include break-fix support for new rack deployment
Incident management support for sustained operations
Project related support
Any datacenter related Smarthands activity as directed by the client (replacing a network device, configuring a network device or a server, performing a power cycle, performing patch management / cabling etc.)
Participate in failure analysis within the datacenter environment as directed by the client’s engineering team
Provide logistical support for Asset Management, DC Floor Plan Audit etc.
Provide technical guidance to junior members of the local support team.
Provide timely and detailed feedback to management on any service issues impacting SLAs with the client.
Follow guidance and work closely with local, regional or global client leadership and the Unisys management team for response to any client related communication and escalation(s).
Be an outstanding client-facing representative of Unisys at all times
Ensures customer satisfaction throughout the service delivery transaction.
Technical and Behavioral Skills
High school diploma or GED required
Background investigation and drug screen required
Bachelor’s Degree in a computer-related field preferred (computer science, electrical engineering, telecommunications, or related discipline) or 3 plus years of equivalent experience.
Server hardware knowledge with understanding of all component & system type failures.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair enterprise-level software and hardware issues. Excellent problem solving skills where problems may be complex or hard to diagnose.
Knowledge in software and firmware tools of various Server OEMs
Familiarity with Linux and Windows scripting is preferred
Familiarity with deployment technologies such as WDS, PXE, DHCP & FTP.
Working knowledge of Windows Server OS & WinPE OS administration and Apple OS.
Working knowledge of Linux PXE services.
Experienced in controlled experiments in support of the customer’s team to determine root cause
Demonstrate strong ownership, self-motivation
Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment
Ability to work successfully with geographically dispersed teams, customers and vendors.
Attention to detail and accuracy in investigation of issues
Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to work effectively with internal and external customers. Maintains a high degree of professionalism in actions, demeanor and dress.
Ability to work flexible hours as scheduled after-hours events may occur (route install or swap)
Ability to regularly lift and move server systems that weigh up to 70 pounds
A+, Server+ and MCP/MCSE certifications or equivalent are highly desired
