As part of the Marketing Team you will partner with sales to grow revenue and profit. As a Client Marketing Manager you will be responsible for developing data driven, client focused, integrated solutions and articulating Valassis Value and go to market strategy in the Restaurant category. This role is focused on creating demand, reacting to client demand, and protecting and defending our business with our largest strategic clients.
Key Duties / Responsibilities:
Create Demand via Sales Support - Proactively identify and evaluate sales opportunities utilizing internal/external resources, client planning sessions, industry trends and best practice sharing. Leverage syndicated and proprietary data/resources, and provide supporting research/proof/success stories. Champion integrated print + digital solutions with Sales to help position and sell Valassis products and services. Develop content and participate in and present in key client meetings.
Act as Client Experts - Support acumen for identifying key client opportunities in the Restaurant industry with a focus on revenue and profit growth for Valassis. Build expertise and knowledge of key clients - business situation, brand portfolio and marketing strategies via internal/external resources and client interaction. Assist Sales Leaders with the game planning process for key clients and establish a regimen for evaluation and modification during the year.
Product Expert & Liaison to Internal Groups - Act as knowledge center for Valassis products and positioning. Contributor and advocate for corporate initiatives and organic growth strategies with the Sales and Marketing team. Liaison to internal teams representing the voice of the client and consumer to influence Valassis product and innovation objectives. Collaborate with Marketing Intelligence on situation analysis, analytic design and delivery of results.
Take on additional responsibilities and projects as needed.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree and 3 years of relevant experience OR equivalent work experience. Preferred Discipline: Marketing, Advertising, Communications, PR, Analytics or other related.
Previous experience with the Restaurant industry is highly desired.
Strong interest/experience in digital, mobile and other emerging media preferred.
Skills / Abilities:
High level of comfort and experienced in working with and interpreting syndicated data (Scarborough, Prosper, Kantar, MRI, etc.)
Act as Subject Matter Expert for the Client Marketing Manager role and deliver high quality and quantity of work. Ability to think more strategically, staying abreast of changes in the market and adjusting strategies/vision as needed. Established and trusted partner to Sales.
Requires broad conceptual judgment and ability to deal with complex factors not easily evaluated
Highly independent and creative; requires extreme collaboration with other teams throughout the company.
Requires ability to address complex business issues beyond immediate needs or where established policies may not be aligned with business needs/objectives
Ability to prioritize to ensure the highest quality work and deliverables for internal/external customers
Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent computer skills, Microsoft office, strong research, analytics and market intelligence experience
Ability to present to large and key groups, persuade individuals/groups and negotiate effective solutions between key clients.
Previous experience working on special projects and/or additional responsibilities outside the normal scope is highly desired
Communication & Contacts (Internal/External):
Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and different departments to support job responsibilities and projects. Also, ability to interact with key clients and vendors in positive and effective manner.
Decision Making Scope:
Develop advanced level strategic initiatives; work with marketing and sales management on decisions changing policy and process.
