Job Summary

With this being said, a Maintenance Mechanic’s primary focus is to keep our production lines running at maximum efficiency and safely. The mechanic will get exposed to various mechanical and electrical systems throughout our many processes. This vast and quick exposure is valuable while creating depth within our maintenance teams. We strive to do things right the first time while working with a sense of urgency. Being a problem solver is a fundamental attribute to move up within the TSC family.
Specific skill sets:
· Knowledge of tools of varying complexity. Being able to see an application and know the tools required to get the job done. At times designing your own tools. From hydraulic jacks, Spanner wrenches, OD mics, machine levels, volt meters, metric and imperial wrenches, grinders, band saws, welders, plasma cutters, and several others.
· Troubleshooting ability
· Knowledge of reading drawings and schematics coupled with ordered parts
· Organizational skills to keep daily notes and line priorities
· Understand critical equipment and perform proper PM
· Effective communication
· Strong sense of LOTO procedures
· Understanding standardization of parts, along with part identification per production line
· Basic understanding of costs
· Housekeeping, waste reduction
· Hydraulic exposure and knowledge
· Pneumatic exposure and knowledge
· PLC knowledge
· Understanding tolerances and dimensions
· Computers – specifically Microsoft office
Beneficial skill sets:
· Knowledge of CNCs
· Knowledge of combustion equipment
· Knowledge of metal working or steel mill exposure
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
General
The employee must be able to be on call 24/7. At times working nights. Standard work hours are 7-5:30 M-F and at times when production runs the weekend, 7-3:30 Saturday. The employee may be required to operator a forklift, scissor lift, or man-lift therefore, must be forklift certified. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. A physical and drug test are required before employment.
This position pays hourly with the potential advancement to salary plus an overtime pay (STOT).
Career Path
An industrial maintenance mechanic has three grades before potentially becoming a lead man or supervisor. The daily responsibilities are directed by the maintenance lead man. The plant engineer has a direct line of communication to the maintenance mechanic.
