THE ROLE:
We're looking for Photography Manager

The Photography Manager will manage a team of photographers in Fashion and our Home/Living categories, working closely in studio with Studio Managers, Stylists, Art Directors, and Post Production Imaging Teams. The Photography Manager collaborates with the Creative team to establish photography standards, evaluate photography quality, and recommend photography changes to improve member experience, the Rue La La Brand, and enable production efficiencies. This is a great opportunity to play a lead role in a fast paced, fashion studio. Efficient workflow management, organization, collaboration, and communication is key to this role. The photographer should have a passion for photography, the knowledge and experience to leverage technology to drive efficiency and quality, and a desire to join and lead in a strong team environment. This position reports to the VP Studio Production.

What you'll accomplish
Manage team of photographers, including goal setting, conducting performance evaluations, providing feedback at regular intervals, developing photography and professional skills, and assigning challenging projects to improve quality and efficiency
Responsible for overall photographic quality of the assigned team
Work collaboratively with Lead Stylists and with Lead Imagers to ensure deliverable files meet or exceed expectations and standards
Adept at photographing all categories of products assigned to the photography team
Work collaboratively with creative and boutique production departments to develop partnerships and standards
Work collaboratively with the studio scheduling team to assess schedule risks and issues, as well as assign photographers to sets
Maintain, distribute, and update standards guide
Manage feedback for and from team, including any issues that might arise relative to photography, and able to troubleshoot and provide solutions resourcefully and in a timely fashion
Support company initiatives and provide innovative ideas for photography as they related to achieving business objectives
Stay current with the latest technology solutions and evaluate/recommend solutions which improve productivity and quality
As the Photography Manger, you will also photograph impact and product shoots and meet the expectations of a photographer; while leading advancements in the following areas:
Ensure a high level of consistent technical quality and aesthetics for all photography created and distributed by the photography team; conduct regular reviews with staff and Art Directors to understand hits and misses and requisite changes to approach
Maintain and establish workflow that insures completing the daily production requirements and stretch goals
Set procedures for naming, saving, archiving and transmitting photo files
Manage exceptions to images for timely correction and partner with imaging/retouching team
Partner with the VP of Studio Production to maintain photo equipment and cleanliness of studio, as well as equipment repairs and replacements for the photography team
Partner with the VP Studio Production to construct capital expense budget for photography equipment as well as operating expense budget for maintenance and peripherals
Evaluate photography metrics weekly, make recommendations to improve performance and/or efficiencies, engage the team in productivity monitoring and improvement, and suggest metrics to gain deeper insights into efficiencies and productivity
Maintain a pool of qualified freelance photographers; partner with the VP Studio Photography to plan set capacity based upon demand forecasts

THE RIGHT FIT:
You have
Minimum 5 years of digital studio experience or equivalent
Minimum 2 year degree in digital photography a plus
Superior skills with Photoshop, Capture One and Mac OS
Previous management experience preferred
Excellent communication, collaboration and organization skills required
Knowledgeable with Canon photography equipment
Expertise in Grip and Electric
Expertise with multiple lighting disciplines, such as studio flash, location and remote lighting techniques, daylight control and continuous lighting is required
Proficient in Capture One, Photoshop and Color Management Techniques and processes
Excellent knowledge of Mac and PC as well as desktop support
Proven ability to light sets consistent with established standards
Must be self-starter, with a strong sense of teamwork in a fast-paced, high volume, deadline-driven environment
Some lifting may be involved
Provide portfolio of original work
