Assists the classroom teacher in providing literacy and research enrichment to students and manages the day-to-day operations of the school library. Coordinates activities and provides information support; orders and shelves books & materials, maintains inventory, circulates materials, provides literacy guidance and enrichments to students, supports flexible daily access, utilization of print and electronic resources, and classroom instruction with information literacy, research, and 21st century skills under the direction of the classroom teacher. Develops and promotes good community relations among various school and community clientele.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the supervision, management, instruction and activities in the Library Media Center as appropriate.
  • Assist with the use and management of the Library Media Center instructional software systems including CD ROMS, electronic databases, word processing programs, Internet access and information retrieval in accordance with District policy.
  • Monitor and maintain the automated library CIRC/CAT system.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot library computer hardware, software, audiovisual and multimedia equipment, performing minor repairs as necessary, following District procedures for services and maintenance of electronic equipment.
  • May be responsible for selecting, evaluating and ordering Library Media Center equipment, physically processes AV and computer equipment for the library.
  • Perform necessary and appropriate record keeping. Perform inventory of all Library Media Center equipment and materials.
  • Assist in the management of the Library Media Center collection, including circulation responsibilities, and the technical processing of print and non-print materials.
  • Assist in the training, scheduling and management of student assistants and community volunteers in the Library Media Center.
  • Serve as a resource person for Library Media Center materials and services, coordinating and communicating with the school community as appropriate.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
