The Role / Opportunity

This key position will prepare code-compliant fire sprinkler designs for industrial, commercial and residential buildings and will have the opportunity to design and project manage larger projects. The responsibilities include:

  • Layout and hydraulic calculation of wet pipe, dry pipe, pre-action systems using Hydracad, and AutoSprink
  • Prepare CAD shop drawings and material submittals for review by architects, engineers, clients and jurisdictional authorities
  • Coordinate sprinkler design with existing structures and other MEP subcontractors
  • Optimize design efficiency
  • Prepare as-built drawings
  • Perform field surveys
  • Attend project specific meetings
  • List materials for fabrication and purchase

This position reports to the VP of Design with 30+ years of experience who easily shares his vast knowledge and is NICET IV Certified. Desired Experience and Abilities

  • 5 years experience in Fire Sprinkler design
  • NICET Certification is a big plus
  • Proficient in AutoCAD - AutoSprink, HydroCAD & Navisworks are preferred
  • Strong analytical, mathematical and problem solving skills
  • Organized, efficient, precise with a mechanically creative mind.
  • Ability to read blueprints, architectural, mechanical and electrical documents
  • Prior experience managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines and goals
  • Ability to conduct field visits at construction sites.
  • Knowledge of NFPA codes
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to pass pre-employment drug test and background check
