Essential Responsibilities:
The Sourcing Casting Technologist will drive quality for assigned casting suppliers and manage quality plan implementation. You will own supplier results, drive improvements utilizing supplier scorecards, own supplier audits, ensure compliance, and drive supplier improvement plans. This role requires a comprehensive in-depth understanding of casting technologies and material sciences.

Key responsibilities include:
Working knowledge of the investment casting process, with emphasis on the material / metallurgical aspects of the manufacturing process
Expertise in all three metal solidification methodologies – equiax, directional solidification-poly crystal, and single crystal
Expert knowledge of single crystallography and its application to production of jet engine hardware for both production of hardware and inspection / analysis of characteristics
Mold design including Gating and risering methodologies for the various solidification techniques in production of HPT and LPT section components
External Shell and Internal Core working knowledge
Dimensional analysis with ability to assess and adapt impact from the process
Experienced in support manufacturing operations
Raw material alloy production
Casting techniques including knowledge of solidification analysis and furnace construction
Solution heat treatment cycle development and analysis
Core removal methods
Grain etching
Brazing
HIPing

Non Destructive Testing techniques:
Xray (film, digital, CT, etc.)
Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection
Eddy Current
Neutron Radiography
and Grain
Nickel Base Superalloy characteristics – metallurgical, physical, and chemical
In addition, the Sourcing Casting Technologist may also be responsible for :

Supplier Quality Assurance and Supplier Quality Development
Supplier qualifications, action plans, audits, performance monitoring, and assisting key suppliers towards industrial standards of excellence
SQEs have various levels of differentiation which are related to level of technical understanding of engineering drawings and ability to manage vendors
Negotiate the best commercial and technical package for procurement requirements
Work with allocated key suppliers to improve On Time Delivery and Quality statistics to target levels
Present to senior leaders (EB and SEB) in specific purchasing space and on cross functional teams on how purchasing contributes to overall strategy
Assist in the continuous development of the Procurement function towards best practice
Identify and deliver value-adding opportunities from the supply chain
Advise Functional managers or other Functions regarding approaches, processes and procedures within own field

Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (Or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Quality or Material Science)
A minimum of 3 years of experience in Supplier Quality Engineering, Material Science, or Manufacturing
