DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Houston Health Department is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of a Surveillance Investigator to perform the following job functions:
- Tracks and traces HIV/STI patients through surveillance methods.
- Conducts record searches on assigned HIV/STI cases under surveillance
- Researches, locates, and investigates individuals through surveillance methods.
- Acts as liaison to medical providers and/or staff and other governmental agencies involved
in surveillance activities and projects.
- Establishes rapport with staff of HIV/STI and Viral Hepatitis Bureau.
- Collects and analyzes data and prepares reports on investigative activities and findings to
be reviewed by Program Supervisor and/or Manager.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor and Manager.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences or a related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
One (1) year of professional experience in public health or health care is required. Internships, practicums, and similar programs may be evaluated and substituted for professional experience.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
None.

SALARY INFORMATION
GRANT FUNDED
Grant positions are dependent upon continued available funds. If funding is no longer available, employee may be laid off or transferred. Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.
