The Health and Fitness Specialist (Advanced Level) provides oversight to the NRO enterprise fitness program with guidance from Chief, NRO Fitness. The Health and Fitness Specialist works with the NRO wellness team to plan and execute a comprehensive wellness program and provide fitness services to the site population. As a SAIC employee the position also includes SAIC duties necessary and specific to the site.

Lead or assist in developing and teaching fitness workshops or seminars as needed
Enhance knowledge of exercise, body alignment and exercise safety to all gym users and class participants.
Provide support to the planning, management and continual evaluation of government fitness programs and equipment.
Provide general nutritional guidance as necessary.
Provide fitness testing, evaluation and individual fitness program development.
Contribute health and fitness articles to the Wellness Newsletter and other fitness-related reports/correspondence.
Perform administrative work to include familiarization tours of the fitness facilities, data collection, data input, create presentations and attend meetings as necessary.
Provide written, monthly activity reports to site GPOC for possible referral to corporate headquarters.
Develop and maintain service/demand and performance metrics in coordination with Chief of Fitness.
Assist government fitness staff with 5-year equipment recap plan and records maintenance for government enterprise fitness program.
Foreign and domestic travel in support of government enterprise fitness program

SAIC Duties/Required Skills:
Strong interpersonal skills necessary to work collaboratively with multiple sites and enterprise customers, stakeholders and corporate headquarters managers.
Effective verbal and written communications skills.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and standard computer applications.
Knowledge of principles of exercise physiology.
Thorough knowledge of functionality of relevant fitness equipment.
Thorough knowledge of current industry trends and standards in exercise protocols, fitness programming, and equipment standards.
Ability to analyze customer needs and deliver appropriate assistance.
Experience to work with customers at all fitness skill levels.
Active personal training certification from American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), or National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) or Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (e.g., National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
Active Cardiovascular Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillators (AED) certification Required Skills:
Ability to multitask and complete tasks on time.
A TS//SCI security clearance with polygraph a plus but not necessary to secure position as a qualified candidate.
Must be available/able to travel domestic and international

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and three (3) years or more of related experience; Masters and one year of related experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or equivalent and 5 years’ experience
Personal training certification, ACSM or NASM or NSCA is desired.
Must be able to travel at least 4x a year, domestic and foreign

Clearance Requirement:
Must currently possess TS/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) with the ability to obtain TS/SCI with Polygraph
