POSITION SUMMARY
- The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. In addition, this position is to perform assigned administrative duties as well as the coordination and implementation of processes and procedures for the Human Resources department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications, reference checks, drug screenings and any other health screenings required. Forwards necessary correspondence to all applicants as well as provide Conditional Offer of Employment letters to potential candidates.
- Assist and implement new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
- Assist processes initial employment paperwork, including but not limited to, W4s, I9s, Direct Deposit set up, and Health Questionnaires, issuance of name badges and timecards.
- Maintain employee files to ensure completion and current information meets regulatory guidelines.
- Data entry of employee information into Human Resources software.
- Responds to payroll and reference checks requested by financial institutions, state & federal agencies, outside employment and any other related request.
- Responsible for various required reporting as well as reporting of HR related statistics including but not limited to: Illinois New Hire Reporting; Cost input for Pre-Employment Screenings; In-Service Attendance Reporting.
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintain and keep all regulatory posters up to date as well as update the Human Resources bulletin board.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- In the event the HR Director is not available, submit follow-up and maintenance of Worker’s Compensation claims.
- Issue CMSS staff parking stickers.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources, COO and CEO.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Must be knowledgeable in current PC applications and use computer proficiently

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS and EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- At least two year of human resource management experience preferred.
