We are looking for an Experience Design Director to lead the Longitudinal Care team within our flagship electronic health record product, athenaClinicals. In this role, you’ll work closely with cross-functional leaders to create and execute strategy across a major area of the Clinicals product. You will coordinate efforts to articulate a strong vision for your product area, ensure design intent is maintained throughout the R&D process, and manage a team of talented scrum designers.

The Successful Candidate: You have a track record of success framing complex, wicked problems and working cross-functionally to identify and scope meaningful solutions. You’re skilled at building partnerships across different business areas to advance ambitious work. You bring curiosity, empathy, and a sense of humor to everything you do.

The Team: The work of the Longitudinal Care team helps care providers gain a holistic view of their patient across the entire lifecycle of clinical care, by providing a patient-centric, interoperable patient chart and in-app collaboration tools.

Job Responsibilities

Lead design team to deliver consistently high quality UX designs, driven by research and validated with users
Partner with product & engineering leads to set strategic direction for a substantial feature-set
Contribute to deliverables for product release milestones, including product roadmaps and readouts to leadership
Plan and facilitate problem identification and solutioning workshops

Typical Qualifications

10+ years of experience creating services and products for web, mobile and/or tablet.
Demonstrated ability to directly lead other talented experienced designers, and mid-level design managers, pushing them to deliver their very best work
MA or MS, BA or BS in User Experience, Interaction Design, HCI, Library Sciences or similar, or a degree in a different field with impressive relevant experience
Possess a wealth of knowledge about design best practices, preferably with experience applying them within a large organization
Passionate about improving health care, and preferably have experience in the domain or other complex regulated / constrained industries
