Full Job Description
The Section Manager for Human Resources, Talent Support, under the direction of the Associate Managing Director for Talent Management, leads a team to apply organization policies and procedures to resolve the full range of HR-related issues. The Talent Support team addresses problems that are diverse and complex in scope, where analysis of situations require a review of a variety of factors, including working in an area with diverse types of positions.
The Talent Support team is responsible for investigating and guiding employees and supervisors through performance issues, corrective action processes and employee concerns. The successful candidate will work with university employees and leaders to provide guidance and assistance on employee relations issues as well as helping them to navigate the more complex issues as they arise.
Develop, implement, and maintain talent management practices, policies, and programs that support a high-performance campus culture. Oversee compliance and manage risk associated with leave administration, ADA, background checks, performance management, coaching and corrective action, mediation, and other similar functions.
Partner with campus leaders, managers, and supervisors to provide forward-looking solutions and actively assist in achieving departmental goals as they relate to employee performance and staffing.
Interpret and explain human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations. Confer with management to develop or implement personnel policies or procedures.
Develop internal and external professional relationships to promote team building and organizational success.
Stay up-to-date on all federal, state, and university-related laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Educate subordinates of changes as appropriate.
Knowledge of human resources principles, administration, and management. Knowledge of laws, legal codes, precedents, government regulations, and agency rules. Oral and written comprehension and expression skills. Active listening. Deductive/inductive reasoning and critical thinking. Judgment and Decision Making.
Bachelor's degree required plus four years supervisory experience.
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Management, or Business plus three years experience related to the assigned area. SHRM or HRCI Human Resources Certification.

Minimum Hire Rate
Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan on the Human Resources webpage.
