Miles Electrical Contracting, Inc. is seeking applicants for the following positions: Electrical Apprentice and Electrician’s Assistant. We are looking for motivated individuals who are interested in building a career in the electrical field and who have the work ethic and dedication to become licensed electricians and industry leaders. Applicant requirements include but are not limited to:
- Must have a clean record with the ability to pass state and federal agency background screening
- Must be able to pass Jessica Lunsford Act background screening and acquire badge for Duval County Public Schools
- Must have valid Driver’s License and clean driving record as well as dependable transportation
- Must be available to work day shift (typically 7am to 3:30pm with lunch break. Typical day shift is 8 hours per day, Monday – Friday)
- Must be able to work overtime and weekends when necessary
- Must have verifiable work history and references
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Basic electrical installations: conduit bending, wiring, installation of light fixtures and electrical devices
- Hand digging, trenching and installation of underground conduit
- Ability to lift and carry up to 80 lbs
- Ability to work from step ladders (up to 12 ft ladders), scaffolds, scissor lifts, and boom lifts
- Ability to physically perform in harsh climates
- Demonstration of strong organizational and time management skills
- Maintaining a positive attitude with good communication skills and working well with others

Miles Electrical Contracting, Inc. is a participating employer in the NEFBA electrical apprenticeship program which is a 4 year nationally recognized program. In this program, Miles Electrical Contracting, Inc. pays the tuition of the apprentice and ensures the necessary on-the-job training is received. The employee is responsible for purchasing their own books and lab fees, and is required to attend classes 2 nights per week for approximately 3 hours per night. Apprentices who participate in this program are also paid a scale based on the average Journeyman Electrician rate and are guaranteed raises every 6 months as long as they attend class, maintain the required grades and meet the requirements detailed in the apprenticeship agreement. We strongly encourage our employees to participate in this program as it is a mutually beneficial program and helps produce highly skilled journeyman electricians.
