We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Manager of Infection Prevention and Control in the Center for Clinical Excellence (CCE) at University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC). Under the oversight of the Assistant Administrator, CCE, and direction of the Medical Director of Infection Prevention, the Manager for Infection Prevention and Control will provide program leadership, coordination, and education for the implementation of infection prevention and related patient safety practices across both campuses of University of Washington Medical Center.

This position is responsible for clinical leadership and direction for daily infection prevention and control operational activities. This includes leading the implementation of institutional priorities for the prevention of healthcare-associated infections. The person in this role must possess expertise in evidence-based infection prevention and control practices and will serve as a resource to the Infection Prevention team and to UWMC faculty, staff and administrators. This role will also be responsible for organizing and responding to regulatory requests related to infection prevention. The manager will provide direct support to staff, patients, and families in education and care continuum needs related to infection prevention, and must have demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary implementation projects. In partnership with the Center for Clinical Excellence Assistant Administrator, the Medical Director of Infection Prevention and other QI Administrators, the manager will assist in the development of evidence-based standards, protocols, guidelines, policies and procedures for infection prevention and control. This position requires the ability to analyze data for opportunities for improvement in patient care practices, and demonstrated success in organizing and teaching educational offerings.

Major responsibilities include:
Provide clinical leadership and direction for daily infection control operation activities in conjunction with the Assistant Administrator and Medical Director of Infection Control. Supervise the work of the Infection Prevention Teams at both UWMC campuses. Plan, assign work, counsel, coach and review the work of staff. Provide staff with opportunities for growth and development within Infection Prevention.
Serve as an Infection Prevention & Control resource for faculty and staff and leads unit and service based intensive reviews of hospital acquired infections to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Represent Infection Prevention & Control at a variety of Patient Safety and Quality Committees and Workgroups.
Create and lead educational activities related to Infection Prevention & Control using innovative methods to teach, communicate and disseminate knowledge and improve clinical outcomes. Partner with Employee Health for staff/faculty initiatives related to preventing infections.
Represent Infection Prevention & Control during Regulatory reviews, surveys and other activities.

Baccalaureate degree in healthcare related field
6-8 years of experience, including 4 years experience as a manager in a healthcare setting with experience and knowledge of infection prevention principles and practices
Strong customer service focus
Strong interpersonal skills
Equivalent experience may substitute for degree requirement
Masters in healthcare or business preferred
