Summary

The Executive Vice President of Academic Operations is responsible for the efficient implementation and continuous quality improvement of academic programs, policies, practices, and initiatives as determined by the University’s academic system and led by the University’s Provost. The majority of these responsibilities will be met by overseeing the work of academic administrators including deans, associate deans and others who report to this role. It is expected that the Executive Vice President of Academic Operations will set and achieve high standards for performance, accountability, transparency, and collaboration with other functions throughout the University. The Executive Vice President of Academic Operations works in a manner that serves the best interest of students and in accordance with the mission, core values, and purposes of the University.

Minimum Qualifications

The Executive Vice President of Academic Operations must satisfy the following minimum qualifications:

  • Doctorate preferred but masters with extensive experience considered; and
  • Five years of progressive and successful experience in role or roles that consist exclusively or predominately of operations management. Direct high level operations experience a must.

Skills and Attributes

The Executive Vice President of Academic Operations must possess the following skills and attributes: demonstrated ability to lead, plan, organize, direct, and control; demonstrated collaborative, interpersonal problem solving, and verbal and written communication skills. A successful candidate will prefer collaboration and open systems and will appreciate the shortcomings of traditional vertical academic structures and functions.

Required Work Hours

A minimum of forty hours per week, plus other hours as may be necessary to complete job duties. A combination of day, evening, and weekend hours is required.

Reporting and Supervisory Responsibilities

  • The Executive Vice President of Academic Operations reports to the Provost.
  • This position supervises the following positions as applicable:
  • Deans
  • Associate Deans
  • Academic Supervisors
  • Other academic personnel

Physical Requirements

The Executive Vice President of Academic Operations must be able to speak, hear, see, read, write, type, dial, reach, and bend.

Travel

Periodic travel, including airline travel and overnight stays, may be required.
