Kemin’s Specialty Crops program develops unique botanical sources of novel functional molecules for business unit product development. The Greenhouse Assistant will play an important role in supporting weekday greenhouse operations; and occasional weekend and holiday greenhouse watering of specialty crops as part of Kemin Industries’ Specialty Crop Improvement (SCI) Unit. This position is considered part-time employment working a maximum of 4-5 hours a day throughout the week and occasionally on Saturdays and Sundays (Holidays included).

- Perform various manual duties as required in establishing and maintaining plants in the greenhouses.
Perform various manual duties for planting, transplanting, watering, and weeding the nursery plots under the breeder’s direction.
- Crossing of various plant species, under the direction of the breeder.
Harvesting plants, threshing, and cleaning seed under direct supervision of the Plant Breeder.
- Occasional watering of specialty plants in greenhouse on weekends and holidays
Communication with line manager for weekday and weekend operation.
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
A High School diploma or equivalent
Must be able to learn quickly and demonstrate strong work ethic.
Ability to work weekends and holidays as needed
This position requires physical exertion. Must be able to lift 50lbs.
