Astellas is announcing an Assistant Director, CET, Investigations, Privacy and Conflicts of Interest opportunity in Northbrook, IL.

Purpose & Scope:
The Assistant Director, CET, Investigations, Privacy and Conflicts of Interest is responsible for conducting and managing compliance investigations across a wide variety of commercial and non-commercial activities in the Americas, including management of the Company's external compliance hotline reporting function, supporting and enhancing the Americas data privacy program, and reviewing and approving employee conflict of interest disclosures. This individual will serve as a primary resource for investigations, privacy and conflict of interest matters, play a key role in the identification of potential risk areas; actively participate in the design, development, implementation and management of strategies and tactics to address identified risks and needs; and provide direct support and advice to help employees adhere to the Company's highest ethical and compliance standards. Demonstrates good judgment and promotes a highly ethical, compliant and accountable culture that encourages and enables employees to raise potential or actual compliance concerns.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
Work closely with global, regional and affiliate-based Ethics & Compliance personnel to effectively manage risk and ensure operational effectiveness, efficiency and consistency in the handling of compliance investigation matters.
Manage the Company's global external compliance hotline reporting function and the investigations database. Develop, manage and track global investigation metrics and trends, develop and distribute periodic investigation reports, and support appropriate communication of investigation results to functional leadership, global/regional Compliance Committees, and other relevant stakeholders.
Help develop, manage and maintain appropriate policies, procedures and processes necessary to perform and document the Company's compliance investigations. Support the development and implementation of internal training and communications to promote a "speak up culture" and the existence of the external reporting hotline to Astellas employees.
Serve as an advisor and strategic business partner to ensure data privacy requirements are incorporated into Astellas systems, business activities and programs in the Americas.
Develop, conduct and raise awareness of data protection issues and compliance requirements through training and communications in the Americas.
Remain current on regulatory laws and issues, emerging areas of risk and best practices in data protection, and serve as a member of industry working groups. Stay current on compliance trends by researching industry publications and literature, benchmarking and consulting with industry counterparts and attending industry conferences and continuing education programs.
Serve as a primary resource in reviewing and approving employee conflict of interest disclosures, develop and enhance related policies, processes and tools, proactively identify training and communication needs, and partner with internal stakeholders to address potential issues, as appropriate.

Quantitative Dimensions:
This position will manage, conduct and support compliance investigations, data privacy and conflict of interest initiatives across a variety of Astellas-sponsored commercial and non-commercial activities in the Americas, and develop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders across multiple Astellas business units to identify and mitigate potential risk to the Company.

Organizational Context:
Position reports to the Senior Director, CET, Risk Assessment, Monitoring & Investigations, and typically interacts with managers, directors and Vice Presidents across various Astellas functions, including without limitation, the Astellas Commercial, Medical Affairs and Research and Development organizations, in gathering, evaluating, and communicating information about the activity or processes being examined. Also collaborates with Legal and Human Resources organizations.

Requirements

Qualifications:
Required

BS /BA degree from an accredited college or university.
8+ years of relevant investigations, data privacy, conflict of interest and/or consulting experience
Relevant pharmaceutical industry experience
Demonstrated knowledge of industry compliance issues.
Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with little or no supervision under tight deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment, objectivity, handle confidential information with discretion and effectively collaborate with multiple functional units.
Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills, including the ability to proactively identify issues, anticipate needs and develop practical, meaningful solutions.
Ability to interact with colleagues with the appropriate respect and sensitivity.
Possesses a natural curiosity, strong orientation to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
