Full Job Description
Fabricates, assembles, erects, repairs and maintains structural woodwork, wooden equipments, roofs, wooden buildings, special advertising dispalys, and original crates for equipment. Also braces percentage loads and creates scaffolding for own use.
Machines, tools and equipment used:
Power circular bench saws, wood planers, band saws, radial saws, drill press, sanding machine, spindle sanders, explosive power or drivers, brace and bit, mallets, chisels, hand planers, solder pot, fish glue, and other common, power and hand tools, ladders, motion lifts, staging.
Repairs and/or builds from sketches, blueprints, and oral instructions, ordinary plant woodwork, wooden buildings and wooden equipment.
Fabricates crates, and performs skilled portions of shoring and bracing in transporting vehicles.
Used and cares for all common hand tools and power tools, as required, machine setups such as installation of moulding or mortising fixtures. Generally works to tolerance of 1/32 inches.
Performs general maintenance and housekeeping of workplace, tools and equipment.
Maintains records, moves materials and follows safety rules in performance of duties.
Performs other similar duties as required or directed.
Required Education or Experience
Massachusetts Construction Supervisor’s License (CSL)
High School degree or equivalent.
4 years apprenticeship and/or 5 years equivalent experience
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
This position will be covered by a collective bargaining agreement. Wage and work place conditions, including shift times, are subject to this agreement. Individuals hired into this position will be represented by a union.
