The Forecasting Excellence Director in Cambridge, UK or Gaithersburg, US is an engaging and influential leader who is able to create and implement new solutions to drive Global Analytics & Intelligence (GA&I) forecasting excellence. Driving solutions to improve GA&I’s capability in forecasting methods and approaches, you will set standards and provide direction and expertise to ensure quality, transparency, robustness and efficiency in the development of long term forecasts. Ensuring forecasting tools and approaches are refined will provide maximum value in underpinning therapy area and brand strategies, clinical investments and business development (merger/licensing/acquisition/divestiture) decisions. You will have accountability for developing and delivering training content that leads to GA&I departmental capability improvement. Further, the Forecasting Excellence Director will be able to influence at a high level without formal authority and to drive behavior across Global Portfolio and Product Strategy (GPPS) and other Senior Executive Team (SET) areas.
Responsible for forecasting excellence capability building across GA&I
Define and develop consistent and robust processes, tools and models for long term strategic forecasting initiatives
Develop and deliver forecasting training modules
Partner across GA&I Excellence and Operations team to ensure an integrated and coordinated approach to all initiatives
Continually partner with and assess GA&I personnel needs for forecasting excellence support to ensure the highest areas of organization un-met or under-needs are addressed
Develop and continually improve forecasting excellence tools and processes – such as Sales Marketing and Medical (SMM) forecasting tool, uptake and peak share analogs, uncertainty analysis, standard patient models
Partner with the Business Intelligence (BI) team to ensure efficient and effective usage of the best data streams for forecasting processes, at the lowest total cost and best value to AstraZeneca
Act as the internal modelling expert familiar with the application and use of a variety of analytical approaches, data streams and advanced modelling techniques for the development of global long-term strategic forecasts
Routinely engage with TA forecasting teams to ensure adherence to forecasting best practices
Ensure usage of the most appropriate and highest quality data streams for forecasting efforts.
Be comfortable interacting with and influencing staff at various levels
Implement forecasting operating model, including oversight of external support/outsourcing, to ensure efficient and effective forecasting operations
MBA or graduate degree in quantitative discipline
Awareness and high level understanding of advanced modeling techniques in the pharmaceutical industry
Demonstrated experience working with a therapy area or brand team to build and manage a long-term global forecast in the pharmaceutical industry
In-depth knowledge of relevant pharmaceutical data sources, including patient-level data
Demonstrated use of pharma secondary data sources, including patient-level data
Demonstrated ability to influence laterally and vertically
Strong Excel and analytical skills
