We are looking for a Product Development Manager to join our team and lead the design and development of new products for our highly successful Garage category. Our company is the market leader in Garage organization, and the solutions you see on our website are just the beginning. Understand market and industry trends through market research analysis, customer collaboration and competitive analysis
Identify market opportunities based on research and present new product ideas to management team
Lead the design and development of new products from concept through to production
Lead new product development meetings and collaborative team sessions
Model and render refined concepts using Solidworks 3D CAD and Keyshot
Detail products for manufacturing using Solidworks
Collaborate with our Engineering team to determine regulatory and testing requirements and capture complete product specification for manufacturing
Collaborate with our Supplier Development team to source new manufacturers both domestically and internationally to develop new products with
Lead new product initiatives with our manufactures and provide them with strategic direction to complete projects within the desired timeframe
Coordinating production and shipment of samples with suppliers, including all iterative re-development of new products
Collaborating with internal packaging engineers to optimize product packaging performance and cost
Develop project timelines and ensure projects are moving ahead according to schedule.
Evaluate and resolve technical issues when they arise
Create drawings and product specifications, and ensure accuracy and compliance with specifications
Collaborating with graphic designers to design product packaging and instruction manuals
Responsible for product profitability, through cost-efficient manufacturer and material sourcing
Provide sales with the tools and necessary information to build collateral to support new products
Available to travel internationally 3-4 times a year for up to a week at a time, and occasionally to other countries (only when safe to do so)
Industrial Design degree (or equivalent) with at least 5 years of work experience
Experience in durable goods or consumer packaged goods design is preferred
Experience using Solidworks for 3D CAD development and rendering software for presentations
Knowledge of graphic design software programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign are an asset
A proven leader who is able to take initiative and ownership of the entire new product life cycle
Knowledge of Project management software, tools and methodology
Ability to deal effectively in a changing, fast paced environment
Ability to manage multiple products at various stages of development
Ability to assess market trends and focus activities towards a market approach
Expert analytical and technical skills, fluent in excel
A change Leader who is creative and proactive
Ability to present to executive level audience
Project Management experience is an asset
Sheet metal experience is an asset
