What You Will Do:
University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center is a regional health care facility located in Anne Arundel County. The Medical Technologist / MLS I or II performs testing of patient specimens which requires practical as well as theoretical knowledge of test methodologies that assist the medical staff in the diagnosis and management of disease and medical disorders. Patient contact and specimens from patients may include infants to adult-geriatric.
What You Need to Be Successful:
B.S. degree in Medical Technology, or chemical, physical or biological science and 1 year training / experience in high complexity testing. Registered as a Medical Technologist (MT) by the Board of Registry of the American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or equivalent registry – required. Prior laboratory experience in Blood Bank preferred. Knowledge of various laboratory instrumentation required. Proficient communication skills required. Ability to read and perform basic mathematical calculations.
