About the role:
We are seeking a talented individual to work as a Faculty Assistant in the Wyss Institute. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Administrative Services and Principal Investigator of a dynamic, interdisciplinary laboratory, you will support the administrative aspects of the PI’s office and laboratory’s research.
What you'll do:
Provide daily support to PI and Researchers regarding administrative matters
Plan and oversee events related to collaborative projects; assist with the writing of administrative components of proposals for agencies such as NIH, NSF, ARO, ONR, among others
Liaise between the Department of Systems Biology and the Wyss Institute on administrative matters to ensure PI and laboratory needs are met
Set agenda for laboratory meetings to facilitate communication and keep the meeting on track
Manage PI calendar; schedule conference rooms; provide audiovisual support; order catering; coordinate travel; maintain electronic and paper files; order office and lab supplies; prepare/proofread manuscript submissions; process expense reports and reimbursements; process new hires for laboratory, maintain laboratory website, update PI CV, work with internal teams to support grant submission process, coordinate twice annual laboratory symposium.
Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others.
Other duties as required by Senior Manager and Principal Investigator
What you'll need:
Three or more years of administrative, project management or related work experience preferred. Education may count towards years of experience.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Previous experience in a scientific research setting, entrepreneurial setting and/or education in Science or Engineering will be highly valued
Ability to work after regular hours on occasion is strongly preferred.
Attention to detail.
Effective communication (oral and written skills)
Basic computer skills with ability to learn new programs as needed.
Familiarity with HCOM and other Harvard financial systems is a plus.
Ability to function in an entrepreneurial setting is essential.
The Wyss is currently operating in a modified manner resulting from restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Until the Wyss returns to full operational status, this position will require you to temporarily work remotely for a portion of your scheduled hours. The specific on-site hours will be determined throughout the onboarding process, although they may change in the future based on the needs of the department.
