Short Description
A medical interpreter is a professional who provides interpretation and translation services for patients who speak limited English and healthcare staff. They are responsible for interpreting medical information accurately and confidentially, ensuring that patients understand their medical diagnosis, treatment options, and other important information. They also provide translations of medical documents, such as records and prescriptions.
We are looking for a fast-thinking and empathetic medical interpreter to ensure a mutual understanding between healthcare providers and patients who do not speak a shared language. The Medical Interpreter is responsible for conveying medical information to patients in an understood language, as well as informing healthcare professionals of any information provided by the patient.
To be successful as a medical interpreter you must have empathy for patients who are in a vulnerable position while providing accurate and unbiased translations. You should be able to make quick translations under pressure to convey essential information.
Experience Required
3-5 years preferred
Education Requirements
High School Diploma
License/Certification Requirements
Certification/Licensure Interpreter/Translator Certificate and/or Certificate of Competency from an approved Interpreter/Translator training program preferred.
Special Requirements
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work out of normal hours if needed when Voyce cannot be used by the patient.
Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation.
Foreign language(s) written translation skills.
Listening skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information
