Grace Church Waldorf (hereafter, GCW) is prayerfully seeking a Lead Pastor who will play a key and instrumental role in teaching and expository preaching the whole counsel of God's Word, shepherding the church family at GCW, and developing and implementing a strategic vision with the elders for the future of the church. His responsibilities will also include patient nurturing, compassionate and nouthetic counseling, and intentional discipling.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be a baptized, born-again disciple of Jesus Christ with a clear call and dedication to pastoral ministry and have the heart of a Shepherd.
- Meet the spiritual, personal, and character qualifications of an Elder found in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:6–9 and exhibit the fruit of the Spirit as found in Galatians 5:22.
- Be a man who believes in the power of prayer, has a strong personal prayer and devotional life, and who is pursuing righteousness and a godly life.
- Be a humble collaborative team player, willing and able to work in the context of an elder led congregation.
- Be theologically aligned with GCW and the Charis Fellowship of Churches (https://charisfellowship.us/), and be willing and able to pursue ordination with the Charis Fellowship.
- Know, love, and be willing to practice the Charis Fellowship distinctives of Triune Immersion and Threefold Communion.
- Be equally enthusiastic about and committed to reaching the lost locally and worldwide, and discipling the found.
- Have a Master's degree level of education.
- A minimum of 5 years vocational ministry experience is preferred.
- If married, have a strong marriage with a spouse who shares God’s call to the church ministry and who wholeheartedly supports her husband in this undertaking.
ABOUT GRACE CHURCH
Originally planted in 1979, GCW has been a flagship church for the Grace Brethren movement, now the Charis Fellowship, in the D.C. Metro area for over 40 years. The church attendance is about 200 in weekly worship. We are a diverse group of committed believers from various nationalities, ages, races, and eagerly welcome all and embrace many military families from the area. We are part of a "district" of Charis Fellowship churches and desire to grow our relationships and support of our sister churches. We also strongly support our national Charis ministries such as Grace College, the foreign and domestic missions of our Fellowship, and national youth conferences.
\*The church building, built in 1984 and renovated in 2018, sits on a 17 acre property. A primary ministry of the church is its pre-K-8th grade ACSI/MSA accredited school, with current enrollment of 225 students. We love children and have had an AWANA ministry for many years. We seek to expand our ministry to local children by way of Good News Clubs in local schools.A competitive compensation package will be offered.
