About the Position:
This position is with the Joint Pathology Center, Director for Administration, Case Accessioning, located in Silver Spring, MD. The work is primarily sedentary although some walking, bending, and carrying of light items (such as books, manuals, files, and supplies) may be required.
Perform clerical and administrative support tasks, such as medical transcription, typically producing up to an average of 440 lines per day when performing this task.
Receive visitors and public telephone inquiries relative to a broad range of subjects, evaluate requests, provide applicable or requested information and/or refer inquiry to proper person for detailed answer.
Schedule conferences and meetings, and prepare minutes for the meetings or conferences.
Receive and review correspondence and reports for format, typographical accuracy, conformance with procedural instructions, proper assembly, appropriateness of references, and required background material.

This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes transcribing documents and/or data entry of medical documents from a variety of sources using appropriate medical terminology; assisting with medical/healthcare case record administration/management; utilizing laboratory information systems (such as CHCS, COPATH) for duties such as accessioning, database maintenance, report queries, test result review and amendments, and/or coordinating with local and regional points of contact.
