Description:
The successful candidate will be the key representative for the Drug Product Development group based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The scientist will provide characterization, preformulation and formulation support to discovery and preclinical groups based in Cambridge.

Provides direct on-site pharmaceutical sciences support to enable efficacy, PK, and toxicology studies for Cambridge based discovery groups
Provides drug substance physico-chemical characterization & offer solutions to enhance exposure in the preclinical species
Provides on-going communication regarding Cambridge Drug Discovery efforts to Pharmaceutical Development and partner groups to ensure organizational awareness, understanding, and alignment.
Provides input on development strategy, budgets, timelines, and project development plans
May be responsible for technical leadership of junior scientists and contractors.
May participate in due diligence assessments and serve as the department’s direct interface with alliance partners
Builds and maintains strong working relationship with CRO/CMO partners ensuring that activities are managed collaboratively, efficiently, and effectively

Education:
Ph.D. with at least 10 years of work experience, preferred. Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline with at least 18 years work experience or Master’s degree with at least 16 years work experience.

Qualifications:
PhD in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Science, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry or related scientific discipline required
10-year minimum experience in the pharmaceutical industry in small molecule drug discovery and development
Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and successful track record in discovery and preclinical support, preclinical formulation development, salt screening and selection, polymorph screening, solid state characterization, and aiding FIH formulation design.
Strong fluency in biopharmaceutics
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
