We are seeking to welcome a Strategic Account Director within our Retirement and Insurance business, concentrated on our Retirement Managed Account and Retirement Income strategy. The Retirement and Insurance business encompasses $139 billion of Franklin Templeton’s AUM as of June 30, 2021. Business strategy and execution are focused on developing and managing holistic, strategic partnerships and creating new markets of distribution across core investment and vehicle capabilities, customized solutions and Digital Wealth/FinTech partnerships for insurance and retirement clients.
The Strategic Account Director will continue to develop and manage the execution of Franklin Templeton’s personalized, dynamic and retirement income focused managed account strategy, contributing to Franklin Templeton’s long-term vision and commitment to the Retirement marketplace. This is supported by an innovative goals-based framework in the defined contribution (DC) marketplace and will be achieved by partnering with other managed account providers, and internal partners across the value chain to introduce our proprietary managed account solutions.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of a Strategic Account Director?
The Strategic Account Director will be accountable across all functional areas (workplace retirement and retail field sales, strategic accounts, technology, digital, product, marketing) for coordinating the activities associated with managed account implementations, to include retirement income.
The Strategic Account Director liaises frequently with internal partners to execute on business development, sales strategy, marketing opportunities, client events, and broader partnership growth initiatives.
The role will be both market-facing and focused on work internal to Franklin Templeton and interactions with key partners and include subject matter representation representation in client meetings and public speaking opportunities at industry events.
Integration, connectivity, and strategic account management of retirement client, recordkeepers, strategic partner and technology relationships including, but not limited to, NextCapital, Stadion, iJoin, Morningstar and recordkeeping partners.
What ideal qualifications would help someone to be successful?
Ideally 10 years of investment industry experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, advanced degree preferred
FINRA Series 7 and 63 required
Skill set to encompass technology implementation knowledge/experience, as well as a deeper understanding of the needs associated with go-to-market activities for managed accounts
Strong project management and organizational skill to lead managed account implementations with other providers and training internal resources
A strong and agile internal collaborator with ability to engage and partner with executive/senior leadership, Specialized Investment Managers and internal colleagues
Excellent communication skills and strong business, product and investment knowledge
Desire to excel in a multi-faceted, decentralized global organization with extensive resources and a highly collaborative culture.
Vision and mindset to align with business strategy focused on personalization, innovation and building long-term, holistic client relationships
Consultative, outcome-oriented and strategic thinker with a proven ability to deliver
Preference for established relationships with business leaders and influential decision makers within the retirement and insurance industry.
