General Duties:
The Communications Manager, under the guidance of the Vice President of Communications and Strategic Initiatives, creates and implements communications products and projects that effectively support NVTC’s goals (event promotion, member awareness, etc.).

Specific Duties:
Manages the writing, fact checking, editing and review process of the weekly e-newsletter. Manages the design, layout and production of the newsletter in Informz email marketing tool. Contributes articles and ensures that all deadlines are met.
With guidance from the VP of Communications and Strategic Initiatives, writes, edits and manages the production and distribution of electronic marketing pieces (e-blasts).
Manages NVTC’s Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and Twitter accounts, coordinating messaging and implementing strategic marketing for NVTC programs and events. Live tweets NVTC events. Works with PR advisor to implement digital marketing campaigns.
With assistance and guidance from the VP of Communications and Strategic Initiatives, the Communications Manager oversees production of NVTC’s online magazine, including coordinating content submissions, proofreading and posting on a WordPress platform.
Writes the majority of NVTC’s printed and electronic communications products. Is the first and last stop for the editing and proofing of Web content, all printed (e.g., programs, posters, flyers), advertising, and e-mail communications (e.g., e-newsletters).
Writes and edits content for the website, serving as the main point of contact for staff web content. Works with the VP of Communications and Strategic Initiatives, IT Manager and Graphic Designer to ensure that the NVTC website is kept up to date, appropriate content is added and continually enhanced, the site is easily navigable, copy is written appropriately for this particular medium, and the design is attractive and adheres to brand standards.
Manages the majority of NVTC’s public relations activities, including press releases, with support from PR advisor. Assists with media relations.
Coordinates, publishes and promotes video content, including providing in-house editing when necessary.
Is the “keeper” of the NVTC writing style guide and continually updates the document as it evolves. He or she also is the main resource to staff for writing style questions (with backup by the VP of Communications and Strategic Initiatives).
Serves as a key member of the “brand police” to ensure that all NVTC communications products are properly branded from both graphic identity and writing standpoints.
Act as liaison between Communications and other departments and committees.

Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, English, or related field.
Two-three years’ experience in communications, public relations, digital marketing or journalism. Communications agency and association experience a plus.
Outstanding writing, editing and proofreading skills for both print and digital media, with knowledge of AP style. Knowledge and use of proper grammar and punctuation is critical.
Excellent organization and time management skills. Ability to plan, manage, prioritize and implement multiple tasks and priorities and meet deadlines.
Experience using and managing social media in a corporate, nonprofit, or association environment. Experience with Facebook Live a plus.
Knowledge of WordPress and other web content management systems, search engine optimization and web analytics. Experience using email marketing software platforms (Informz) and managing marketing automation plans a plus.
Superior attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and autonomously while within a team environment.
Experience in collaborating closely with internal clients on the development of communications products.
Ability to think strategically and take initiative on projects.
Ability to communicate effectively by e-mail and phone with internal and external clients.
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) with an ability to establish and maintain effective relationships.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
