Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller position at Gordian is a Director level position with immediate and direct impact on the operating results of our company. The position has responsibility for the accuracy of reported results as well as the internal controls and oversight of systems to support those results (including NetSuite, HFM and SAP). The Controller provides direction and coaching to a team of individuals (4 direct reports, 30 total) dedicated to the efficient and accurate processing of our underlying transactions. They will communicate frequently with all functional leaders of the business, the Controller’s organization and FP&A team.
Direct team of Accounting Professionals to deliver timely and accurate monthly financial reporting
Establish, implement, and monitor appropriate internal controls and policies to ensure conformance and compliance with GAAP and other statutory requirements
Provide direction, oversight and support for ERP (NetSuite) implementation
Partner with Reporting Manager to ensure Fortive deadlines achieved for monthly analysis, statistical reporting and annual SOX processes
Develop and deploy key operational metrics and analysis to support daily management and internal controls of the business, proactive management of costs and working capital, and to drive sustainable improvement
Responsible for reviewing month-end journal entries and account reconciliations, preparing quarter-end financial reports and focused analyses; Leading and improving close process
Ensure Gordian external filing requirements met for business licenses, sales and use tax and other jurisdictional taxes
Participate and provide leadership during audits (internal and/or external), balance sheet reviews, tax reporting and Anti-Corruption testing
Recruit, develop and supervise an effective staff in the Finance Department. Ensure that the functions of the department are carried out in an efficient, professional and ethical manner
Clearly communicate expectations and accountabilities for performance, helping employees see the link between individual performance and department/company achievement of its strategic plan
Supervisor Responsibilities include participating in interview process and training employees; scheduling, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, (CPA preferred), minimum of 4 years of accounting or internal controls specific experience
Applied experience with close cycle as well as formal people leadership
Experience in managing multiple entities with consolidations, analysis and reporting experience
Skill and ability to collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; and develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources
Experience leading teams through audit cycles
Strong GAAP skills, critical thinking skills and strong analysis skills
Experience with HFM, NetSuite, SAP, or other Large ERP systems preferred
Strong work ethic, professionalism and flexibility; must possess the ability to adapt to a growing & evolving environment and a dynamic industry
Experience establishing processes, KPIs, tracking and process mapping
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, in addition to presentation skills
Must be able to adapt to changing environment, be innovative and a quick thinker
Extensive Continuous Improvement experience
Ability to interact and collaborate well with all levels of employees
Ability to travel 10-15%
