Become a Helicopter Project Scheduler at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you are needed to help support the Enhanced Overhead Inspection initiative as well as the Wildfire Mitigation by project manager in scheduling a vast amount of day jobs as well on multi-week/month long term projects. This is a cross functional position that’ll be primarily focused on the management of contract aircraft performing work on behalf of SCE and will be the liaison to all internal clients requesting contract aircraft. Other responsibilities may include scheduling internal major projects and external load jobs. This is a “professional” position requiring formal aviation training/education and will require ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness to achieve successful results that not only include safely completing the work but in the most cost effective way and with exceptional customer service.
This position is an integral part of the system of checks and balances that allows Aircraft Operations to assess and mitigate aviation risks while flying helicopters in the wires environment and safely moving external loads including Human External Cargo.
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced cross functional team environment, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage interruptions, prioritize competing deadlines. Immediate response to customer requests is what we strive for. You will need effective time management skills and the ability to plan and organize an unpredictable workload. The successful applicant must be able to work both independently and in a team environment to meet shared goals and objectives for multiple stake holders.
This position requires an advanced in-depth knowledge of helicopter types, helicopter models and helicopter performance charts. This position has to have expert knowledge in Federal Aviation Regulations and the Federal Aviation Administration’s Flight Standards Information System 8900.1 content as it pertains to aviation contract management of external loads.

Independently assess project requests and determine course of action by assessing the Flight Requests that require Part 133 Operation and determine the capability needed to perform the requested work; assess In-House availability verses contract helicopter support; make independent decisions when recommending appropriate scope and strategies; confirm/obtain proper level of approval against the ‘Use of Aircraft Approval Matrix’; input the job’s data into a spreadsheet to track the progress of the job and to use for reporting purposes and presentations to Transmission and Distribution departments on weekly/monthly meetings.
Build relationships both with our Helicopter Vendors as well with our Clients; assess the jobs that will be contacted out to a helicopter vendor and schedule jobs with the appropriate helicopter contractor based and mission type, weight of equipment, performance of helicopter, best value of helicopter cost, and helicopter contractor availability; email job packets to job requester and helicopter contractor.
Collaborate with Dispatch and the Helicopter Operations Specialist for scheduling major projects as well as utilizing SCE aircraft when availability allows to meet the department’s aircraft utilization objectives by determining which jobs to keep in-house; coordinate timelines/project scope of in-house major projects with all departments of Aircraft Operations.
Resolve issues and ensure project completion by establishing priorities and resolving conflicts between the helicopter vendor and the client.
Input job into an Aviation Scheduling Software and reconcile jobs to ensure completion or needing reschedule.
Obtain Helicopter Contractor’s monthly schedules that show the jobs they have scheduled for us to cross check against ours for accuracy and to see the days they have availability; determine methods and procedures to continue the evolution of this position and keeping current with the ever changing demands/direction of priority that Senior Leadership provides.
Present weekly/monthly meetings to Transmission and Distribution to establish client’s priorities and resolve any issues/questions; daily communication with every Districts across the Southern California Edison territory.
Create Geo Spatial representation of helicopter missions to help de-conflict airspace for the safe operation of unmanned aircraft and helicopters as well as understanding and manipulate Google Earth.
Utility or Military experience with Rotorcraft Operations.
Seven (7) or more years of rotorcraft operations work experience.
Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools; specifically, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
Thorough knowledge of FAR Part 133 and 135.
Bachelor Degree in applicable profession, business, or technical discipline.
Must be able to demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of SharePoint.
Ten (10) or more years of rotorcraft external-load experience.

The primary work location for this position is Chino Air Ops/Chino Airport.
Position will require up to 5% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
Relocation does not apply to this position.
