Job Summary: We are looking to add a skilled respiratory therapist to our night shift team. In this role, you will provide treatment to patients who are struggling with breathing and related cardiopulmonary problems. You will evaluate patients' lung capacities and treat them using oxygen mixtures and various types of equipment.
To excel in this role, you should hold a degree in the field and stay updated on the latest developments. Since this work involves direct patient interaction, excellent interpersonal skills are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor patients with breathing and related cardiopulmonary issues during the night shift.
- Provide emergency care to patients as needed.
- Set up and operate various types of respiratory therapy machinery and equipment.
- Educate patients on how to use breathing equipment independently.
- Monitor patients' progress by performing regular tests.
Requirements:
- Associate degree in respiratory therapy or a related field (bachelor’s degree preferred).
- State license required to practice.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to operate commonly used types of respiratory therapy equipment.
- Current state license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergency situations.
Physical and Emotional Demands:
- Good physical and emotional health.
- Ability to stand or sit for long periods, lift and move patients, and work in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, and home healthcare.
Exposure Risks:
- Normal work routine may involve exposure to blood and body fluids.
- Responsible for following OSHA guidelines and using universal precautions.
Working Conditions:
- Hours are determined by the residents' and community's needs.
- Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
- If your assignment involves caring for individuals on life-support, where having a therapist in-house is required by law, you must arrange to come to work during inclement weather. These arrangements can be in coordination with NJRA and may involve alternative transportation modes, such as a taxi, or arriving earlier or staying later than your scheduled shift.
